Tesla Solar Roof Installation Time Lapse: 40 Squares In 4 Days by Weddle and Sons Roofing!

Weddle And Sons Roofing vor 6 Stunden

Few good questions already that we'll answer here for visibility:

1) Weather was good--how does it work when there is rain during the install?

Once the Firestone underlayment is installed, the roof is 100% watertight. On this job, tearoff and underlayment was done in one day. We actually got heavy rains over the weekend after that first day and had no issues. Then going forward, the roof stays watertight throughout installation, it just is difficult to work on the roof when wet. A couple of nights we covered small sections with plastic so we could start early the next day without the moisture from overnight dew.

2) How does installation time compare to a conventional roof?

A standard shingle roof this size with one of our best crews would be 1-2 days. This was 5 days with a full team, plus some individual trips for material unloading, cleanup, misc. loose ends, etc. It's probably comparable in time to what a standing seam metal roof would take. We're still very early in the ramp-up process though, and we are working on lots of ideas for speeding up installation.

3) Can we post more about production and utility bill impact?

Yes, we will try to get to that after we have more data (and with some clients' permission). It probably won't happen for a couple months though (sorry). We'll try to at least cover more of the inverter/powerwall side of things soon.
