Abortive coup in Qatar

The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamed Ben Khalifa, succeeded in defeating the end of last week and attempted coup, which occurred after the deposition of some thirty senior Qatari army, some are under house arrest.

The news of the attempted coup coincided with a declaration of some people from families close to the emir of Qatar and opponents of the current regime, in which they announced the non-recognition of the legitimacy of the Emir Hamed Ben Khalifa, and seek to replace him by his brother Abdelaziz Ben Khalifa ben Hamed refugee to France.

The statement of the Qatari opposition, signed by 66 political opponents as well as Qatari personalities and ruling families, including 16 figures from the ruling family, contained serious accusations against the current Emir of Qatar, among others, relations with Israel and the United States of America. He is accused of working for the United States and creating discord among Arab countries in addition to his involvement with the family of his wife in corruption and social injustice against thousands of Qatari citizens.

The signatories of the statement have mentioned the wife of the Emir, known as "Sheikha Mouza Bint Nacer El Mesned ", whose appearances in various media, clothed contrary to the customs of Qatar which they considered "indecent". His children, they add, have monopolized power and property of Qatari through use of power.

The signatories of the declaration encourage initiative on the social networking site Facebook, calling for bringing down the Qatari regime.

Qatar heeft onder z'n bevolking 25% sjiieten. Zoals in de buurlanden Bahrein en Saoudi-Arabië wordt vermoedelijk ook daar alle macht uitgeoefend door soenni's.

Ik ben hier om er toe te kijken dat jij geen dictator in het gareel houdt om uw eigen belangen te behartigen.

Het kan me zeker wel wat schelen wanneer angstige egoïstische beunhazen anderen van hun vrijheid tot keuze van staat willen beknotten.

Qatar to join military operation against Libya

Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani announced that his nation will take part in the military operation against Libya. He explained that the Arab League has demanded the UN, not the West, to intervene in Libya, which is why "there must be an Arab nation which will get involved to stop the bloodshed." Al Thani noted in an interview with Al Jazeera that the Qatari military does not intend to harm neither the Libyan people nor Muammar Gaddafi or his family. "The massacre has been taking place for weeks, and we intend to stop the bloodshed now," he said. "If someone has another idea or solution, he should present it before us." (Roee Nahmias)

Zelfs vandaag op het nieuws, werd de vraag gesteld aan de ministers, wie er nu eigenlijk de leiding heeft in de militaire operatie...

Overall command of the operation falls to U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) commander General Carter Ham. Under Ham, Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn is commanded by U.S. Navy Admiral Samuel J. Locklear aboard the command ship USS Mount Whitney. The Mount Whitney joins 24 other ships from Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom and France in launching the operation.

Goe bezig, nen tiran steunen omdat het volk te achterlijk zou zijn om zelf een goed systeem uit te werken. Mensen zoals u zouden eens een jaartje in een land met een absolute monarch aan het hoofd moeten wonen.

Qatar vermarktte ook al een olieverkoop voor de 'rebellen'.

En Qatar zette een TV Libya op (dicht bij Al-Jazeerah, in Doha).

Ah ja, allemaal om de mensenrechten en democratie te steunen hé. Qatrar is namelijk zelf een voorbeeld van democratie hé...
De VS zullen nu misschien Libië (je weet wel om de "pro-democratie vechters"te steunen en de burgers te beschermen, daar zouden de VS, altruïstisch als ze zijn, alles voor doen... ) aanvallen vanuit Qatar, een bevriend regime waar ze een basis hebben.
Qatar ligt op enkele km. van Bahrein, een ander bevriend regime waar burgers aan de lopende band doodgemarteld en neergschoten worden. Deze burgers zijn op een of andere manier minder belangrijk voor Qatar en de VS, da's raar hé?
Ook voor Al Jazeera, eigendom van het Qatarse regime en grote voorvechters van democratie in Libië, is er in Qatar en Bahrein niets aan de hand. Geen reports over "pro democratie betogers" in Bahrain die neergeschoten en gemarteld werden, nochtans ligt Bahrein zo dicht dat ze als het ware vanuit hun hoofdkwartier de beschietingen kunnen zien. Maar misschien leiden die reporters, net als de Amerikaanse media en leiders, aan een zeldzame ziekte die gedeeltelijke blindheid veroorzaakt. Dat kan de reden zijn, want niemand twijfelt toch aan de morele standaard van de VS, Sarkozy en de Arabische golfstaten?
