Since the all-electric pickup went on sale and started being delivered in November, we have seen a handful of well-known figures in the public eye drive the Cybertruck for fans to feast their eyes on.

De productie lijkt alvast (eindelijk) te vlotten, en steeds meer kleurtjes duiken op (wrappen door Tesla, optie voor $6,5k...).

Around 380 Cybertrucks were spotted at Tesla’s Giga Texas

Tesla is currently ramping up the production of the Tesla Cybertruck at its Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, with recent footage from the site showing a substantial jump in produced units.

A video shared on Thursday by drone pilot and Giga Texas observer Brad Sloan appears to show over 380 Cybertruck units at the plant, a steady increase from footage just over a week ago showing around 300 units. The video, which is aptly titled “Overflowing with Cybertrucks,” shows the eastern charging and inspection lot filled with the electric pickups, along with others scattered around the outbound lot and in several other spots around the facility, as can be seen in the photos below.

This is the largest number of Cybertrucks spotted at the facility yet since initial production units were delivered in late November. In the days leading up to the Giga Texas delivery event, held on November 30, people were blown away by there being 25 Cybertrucks spotted at Giga Texas, with the ramp-up in the meantime being gradual but steady.

Just over a month ago, around 100 Cybertrucks were seen at the plant, and Tesla has said it expects to take 12-18 months total to reach volume production. CEO Elon Musk said in an interview in October that Tesla would be targeting around 200,000 Cybertrucks per year with volume production at first, or nearly 4,000 units per week. If things go well, Tesla could boost that number to 250,000 in future years, though Musk has been quick to highlight the long road to volume production.

The footage also comes just a few days after Tesla reached a 4680 battery cell milestone of producing roughly 1,000 Cybertrucks’ worth of cells in a single week. It also comes as the first batches of Cybertruck deliveries have been going out to owners over the past few months, and after Musk said during Tesla’s Q4 earnings call that the automaker expects to sell out of its 2024 builds of the pickup.

Dat komt ervan als je vrij ver vooraan de lijn bestellers staat.Het lijkt anders wel of die subtiel gelaserde tekst "Foundation" op de zijkant alleen al 20k waard is?

Ondertussen is hij WEL fan van het rijgedrag van het ding.Gezien hij echter ZWAAR overbetaald heeft en gezien de depreciatie snel zal inzetten,zelfs voor Cybertrucks,is hij zinnens er een paar maanden van te genieten en vervolgens buiten te duwen met zo weinig mogelijk verschil met de aankoopprijs....

Elon Musk has revealed when the Tesla Cybertruck will get Full Self-Driving.

As the Cybertruck has been out for about six months now, one major feature is yet to be rolled out on the all-electric pickup: Tesla’s Full Self-Driving suite.

There are many questions to be answered about the Full Self-Driving suite and the Cybertruck. It has not been equipped with the driver assistance feature due to several reasons, likely the steer-by-wire system and the camera positioning, which are vastly different from the other vehicles in Tesla’s lineup.

However, Tesla seems ready to roll out Full Self-Driving on the Cybertruck based on comments from Musk. Last night, Musk said that the automaker will begin rolling out the suite on the all-electric pickup “in late June.”

Musk initially stated that the next Full Self-Driving release, version 12.4, will be released internally this weekend and will make its way to a limited number of beta testers outside of the company next week. He said it will have major improvements, and interventions will be needed at a “5x to 10 x improvement” from the current version:

“Btw, 12.4 goes to internal release this weekend and limited external beta next week. Roughly 5X to 10 X improvement in miles per intervention vs 12.3.”

Cybertruck will not receive this release; it will receive the next version, which is 12.5. Musk said:

“12.5 will be out in late June. Will also see a major improvement in mpi and is single stack – no more implicit stack on highways.”

He then confirmed in another post on X that Cybertruck will get Full Self-Driving with the 12.5 release.

Full Self-Driving’s release on the Cybertruck will be a major test for the automaker as it will be the first rollout on this type of vehicle. This presents an interesting challenge, but it is likely something Tesla will navigate through in time. As Tesla could potentially expand into other vehicle types in the future, this will be the first test of this nature.

De Cybertruck (aangepaste EU-versie) blijft toekomstmuziek voor Europese pickup-fans, er is dus helemaal geen reden ongerust te worden.

In USA waar wslk de helft van het wagenpark een soort pick-up is heeft de Cybertruck sinds maart 2024 de 2e meeste inschrijvingen onder de zeldene puur electrische versies na de Ford F-150 Lightning.

According to the data, first presented by Automotive News, The Cybertruck had 1,158 registrations in March in the United States, exceeding the Rivian R1T’s 548 registrations by a considerable margin.

Rivian is a younger company that is still working out the kinks to achieve profitability in the electric vehicle space. It is getting closer, but it does not have the massive order sheet nor the financial strength that Tesla has. It also does not have a dedicated base of fans like Ford, whose F-150 Lightning is still the king of the EV pickup space.

The F-150 Lightning achieved 2,893 registrations in March, according to the data, which was good enough to maintain its lead in the sector.

The F-150 Lightning has various trim levels and has also been offered for several years, making it more affordable and available for those drivers who choose to make the leap from gas to electric pickups. It also now has access to the Tesla Supercharger Network, which makes it a good option for those who do plenty of traveling for work or leisure.

Light truck retail sales in the United States increased to 12.4 million units in 2023. This was a year-over-year increase in sales of some 13.7 percent compared to 2022. 2022 was the second drop in sales in a decade, after the drop reported in 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sales had been increasing since 2010, when the auto industry began recovering from low vehicle purchases after the 2008-2009 financial crisis. In 2023, sales of light trucks accounted for about 79.9 percent of the approximately 15.5 million light vehicles sold in the United States. Ford, with its signature truck, the Ford F-150, was one of the leading North American car brands in the United States.
