https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._GDP_(nominal)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ected_GDP_(PPP)

Even groot als Duitsland.

Vodka Muss Sein.

Citaat:
For the past two years, the Russian consumer has been living in a new food reality; the Kremlin's embargo on EU agricultural imports has deprived him of French blue cheese and Italian prosciutto, while the cheap ruble has made Scotch whisky and Belgian beer an unaffordable luxury.

But this epicurean austerity has only seen resourceful Russians retreat to their kitchens and dachas and begun learning how to produce some of these delicacies with their own hands. Having mastered domestic cheese-making, many Russians have now set about making homemade alcohol.

http://www.kyivpost.com/article/cont...ne-407784.html

In a blunt statement issued on Feb. 10, Christine Lagarde, the maaging director of the International Monetary Fund, has urged Ukraine’s leadership to “act now to put the country back on a promising path of reform."

“I am concerned about Ukraine’s slow progress in improving governance and fighting corruption, and reducing the influence of vested interests in policymaking,” Lagarde said in the statement.

The statement comes a week after reform-minded Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavicius announced his resignation, at the same time accusing a lawmaker and close friend and business partner of President Petro Poroskeno of blocking reforms and promoting his proxies to key government positions.

Meanwhile, the political instability is worsening Ukraine’s financial situation and putting additional pressure on the exchange rate of the national currency, the hryvnia The bond markets have reacted to the political turbulence as well.

Lagarde’s statement is not a surprise, as the IMF’s patience is wearing thin, according to Douglas Rediker, a visiting fellow at Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington, D.C., and a former member of the executive board of the International Monetary Fund representing the United States (2009-2012).

“The fund is increasingly aware of the shortfalls on corruption and other measures and the recent resignation of the minister of economy and his pointed allegations were not a surprise to the fund, but clearly pushed them further into a corner in which fund rules, in spite of remaining goodwill, are being sorely tested,” Rediker said.

He said Ukraine’s fiscal and budget reforms are moving in the right direction now, but “the anti-corruption and some other structural reforms are seen as having stalled, or worse.”

Cooperation with the IMF is crucial for Ukraine, amid Russia's war, as the nation has no alternative sources of financing. The foreign borrowing markets are effectively closed to it, while relations with its former partner Moscow are at a historic low.

“In this case, Ukraine's choices are far more stark," Rediker said. "Play ball, or risk being left unable to pay bills, having alienated the world's lender of last resort. I think this is a dramatic moment for the people of Ukraine.”

Citaat:
The derangements and feats the Western journalist ascribe to Putin contain things like:

• He has Asperger’s Syndrome, cancer of the spinal cord, personality disorders, gayness and Parkinson’s Disease

• He is a psychopath (that is the sociopaths doing the diagnosis)

• He spends so much time with animals…cause presumably people don’t like him too much

• His slouching posture shows that he is envious and resentful of Obama.

• He spends a lot of time on: Weekly meetings with religious leaders to give sermon guidelines; writing editorials for newspapers and TV stations and carefully monitoring media sources to make sure they conform to his decrees.

• He is the world’s richest man, spends all his time redesigning his many palaces

• Etc.etc.

Most importantly, he commands and daily instructs a global Putin troll army, which encompasses every single person who disagree with Western media and their government on anything.

This would all be truly hilarious, if it wasn’t for the sad fact that this tells so much about the main targets and consumers of this propaganda, the supposedly educated classes of the Western world, which willingly trust all that nonsense.
Voorspelbare reactie....

Citaat:
The other big issue in Munich, although not on the agenda in its own right, is Russia. Both Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave long speeches at the podium, but none of what they had to say was particularly new or surprising. The Russian mix of idiosyncratic worldview, twisting of reality, valuable analysis, and shameless propaganda is well-known by now to audiences around the world.

Medvedev peppered his act with careful infusions of rhetorical lament and regret about all the missed chances for better cooperation, but he also made clear that all of the mistakes had been made by others, and none by Russia. Lavrov, true to his usual role, was the emotionless robot, reinforcing Medvedev’s message with admirable straight-facedness. They survived a short magic moment in which they were openly confronted by the audience on some of the brutal contradictions in their words and policies, and then they were gone. They left the stage to a visibly emotional and enervated Petro Poroshenko, president of Ukraine, who was forced to defend his record in office and had none of the sovereign coolness of his Russian counterparts.

Everyone capable of taking a step back and looking beyond the political chess game being performed could also see something else play: the slow burning Russian tragedy of the early twenty-first century. A great power mired in a self-destructive downward spiral of historical complexes, hurt pride, a culture of victimhood, postimperial maladjustment, a false sense of threat, and lies that beget lies. One dares not think about what this great power could achieve if it could bring its enormous talent, grit, and ingenuity to produce something useful.
