Zou het niet het terugkeren van het aloude stammen-systeem kunnen zijn?
Nu ze moderne vuurwapens hebben kunnen ze een stuk effectiever hun oude stamvetes uitvechten en gaat her verhaal verder over machtsuitbreiding.

Ik hecht niet veel geloof dat de basis van de problemen bij tribalisme ligt.
In de eerste plaats zijn de etnische problemen ontstaan door het verdrag van Berlijn door de kolonisators.
Een tweede zaak is natuurlijk de wetteloosheid in Oost-Congo, waardoor allerlei gewapende fracties ideaal kunnen vertoeven. Zie lijst:

Niets nieuws dus onder de zon. Wapens om economische interesses kracht bij te zetten. Typisch 'westers' is dat tegenwoordig. Lijkt wel alsof ze het economisch niet meer kunnen halen, of is het eerder megalomanie?

Hoedanook, het zal niet lang meer duren of we krijgen er weer een paar VS militaire basissen bij in Afrika, en die zijn moeilijk weg te krijgen eens geïnstalleerd.

Ik lees 4 zaken/namen

1) Olie (nu opletten)

2) VS
3) Obama
4) Clinton

De combinatie van de laatse 3 zullen het land weinig goeds brengen - nog geen enkele Amerikaan heeft ooit iets goeds op het Afrikaanse veld gepresteerd. Leeggeschoten, dat wel. Wat ze wel doen is locale dictatortjes/ambtenaartjes voorzien van bergen dollars in ruil voor afschotvergunningen voor de big game die er nog is.
Jacht-uitjes die varieren in prijs van 50.000 tot 250.000 US$ per 2 weken.
De enige industrie naast die van de mijnbouw die grof geld oplevert.

Natuurlijk is de VS bezig alle terrein voor de neuzen van de Chinezen weg te kapen. Maar ze vergeten dat het de ambtenaartjes gaat om geld en Amerikanen houden zich nooit aan eenmaal gemaakte beloftes.
Chinezen wel en dat is het verschil waarom de Amerikanen nooit succes zullen hebben.

De Chinese investeringen in Afrika worden als Kolonialisme voorgesteld, de westerse militaire interventies daarentegen niet. Omgekeerde wereld inderdaad.

Ongeacht wat de rede moge zijn dat Obama achter de LRA gaat. Volgend artikel zegt veel over de dilemma's van een dergelijke operatie en het humanitaire aspect.
Wanneer is een kindsoldaat nog te redden en wanneer moet een kindsoldaat beschouwt worden als een full LRA lid?

The chance for new life for babies born into love after so much suffering and death depends on the wisdom of Obama and others who join them to end this war, to know the difference. In addition to a military operation to capture Joseph Kony, this must also be a humanitarian mission to free those whose lives he has tried to destroy.

Om een Amerikaan zo' n delicaat onderscheid te laten maken zonder dat hij Afrikaanse veldkennis heeft is als het manoeuvreren van de bekende olifant in een porseleinkast.
Maar op den duur zullen ze het wel leren als ze de tijd daarvoor krijgen.
Ik vertrouw nooit goede bedoelingen - de weg naar de (Afrikaanse) hel is er mee geplaveid en denk ik eerder dat het een trainingskamp voor de Amerikanen is.
