Nee, Iran heeft nu overduidelijk zijn positie versterkt.
Het feit dat zij de agenda bepaalden in verband met die 15 mariniers en hun uiteindelijk teruggaven 'als geschenk voor het britse volk' is toch wel een pr-overwinning voor Ahmadinejad.
Ze hebben deze gebeurtenis perfect uitgespeeld en dit is ongetwijfeld
niet onopgemerkt voorbijgegaan in het ganse midden-oosten.
Ahmadinejad weet blijkbaar véél beter hoe je omgaat met conflictsituaties dan lompe cowboy Bush. ;-)
Niet met 'shock and awe' maar wel met het bespelen van 'hearts and minds'.
Iran wint dus deze keer.

Iran had good cards and played them well.

Iran will project this as a victory (the medals given publicly to the officers who led the operation was an immediate example) against a country still viewed with suspicion in Iran because of its past interventions.
It also put out an indirect warning that any attack on its nuclear plants would be met with vigour.
