Ik heb net mijn winterbanden af laten doen, en nieuwe zomerbanden gekocht.
Wat small talk op anderhalve meter en met mondmasker vernam ik zo dat de bandenboer een stuk of vijf tesla's als klant heeft. En ook wat klein grut van bmw, bijvoorbeeld.
Die hun banden slijten veel vlugger.
Dat trekt goed op (die auto) dus trekken ze door (de chauffeurs).

Trekt goed op, maar heeft ook gewoon betere tractie waardoor de slijtage op dat vlak net minder zou moeten zijn. Het zal volgens mij veel meer te maken hebben met het gewicht van die wagens. Ik heb er net weer mijn zomerbanden opgelegd waarmee ik reeds 20K heb gereden en mijn bandenboer vertelt me dat ze het nog wel minstens 20K zullen volhouden. Met mijn vorige wagen deed ik 50K met een setje. Zal nu dus niet zoveel schelen denk ik.

Yup, die doen dat uit routine.

Voor veiliger een 4-vaksbaan met brede middenberm over te steken. lol.

Of een breed kruispunt als er nog iemand vanuit de zijkant door het rood glipt.

Of een 16-meter vrachtwagen bij 2/3-inhaalweg sneller in te halen als er iemand de rijbaan opdraait zonder naar rechts te kijken.

Elke Tesla heeft ook een "event data recorder" die weten sowieso bepaalde parameters bij een gebeurlijk ongeval.

Niet alle verzekeringen honoreren dit.

Is een oneerlijk vergelijk maar de dieselpersonenwagen had 25 jaar nodig (1960-1985) om in Duitsland van 3,3 % naar 9 % te geraken. :-P

LOWEST DRAG COEFFICIENT

Tesla also revealed that the drag coefficient (Cd) of the Tesla Model S Plaid is 0.208, beating the Lucid Air with a drag coefficient of .21, based on tests conducted by Windshear. A few attendees noticed Tesla Model S Plaid vehicles with red and black calipers. Although @klwatts noted that the black calipers were spotted on Model S Plaid test vehicles.

SAFETY
Similar to its stablemates, the Model S Plaid was built for safety. Musk noted that the Model S Plaid would be “faster than any Porsche (and) safer than any Volvo.” The CEO also noted that Tesla is looking to make the Model S into one of the safest in the world. “We (Tesla) think we can get the lowest probability of [injury] any car ever tested,” Elon Musk said about the Model S. The NHTSA still has to test the Model S Plaid. however Tesla has a good chance of reaching its goal. Musk emphasized that the NHTSA’s top 5 vehicles with the lowest probability of injuries are Tesla vehicles.

Laden gaat nu ook sneller, tot 300 km erbij in 15 minuten. Maar de huidige 250 kW-laadzuilen kunnen nog upgrades aan, indien nodig.

The bigger radiator in front will also reportedly allow for better repeatability of high performance and of course, the performance to repeat are quite incredible to start with.

Tesla is claiming 0-60 mph in 1.99 seconds, quarter-mile in 9.23 seconds, and a 200 mph top speed, though those specs were already known before the event.

Musk talked about bringing the car back to the Nürburgring race track to test it again.

The CEO also briefly mentioned the fast-charging capacity of the new Model S at 187 miles of range in 15 minutes.

If there’s somewhere where Tesla is lagging behind the competition, it’s fast-charging speeds, but the metric charged by Tesla is also not ideal.

The industry is starting to move to a more useful time from 10 to 80% state-of charge on 150 kW and 350 kW chargers.

Tesla’s new v3 Supercharger are limited to 250 kW, but Musk hinted at ramping up to “280 kW, 300 kW, and eventually 350 kW” without specifying a timeline.

General Motors (GM) plans to hit the accelerator on its electric and autonomous vehicle ambitions.

The automaker said Wednesday it will increase its investments in electric and autonomous vehicles by 75% to $35 billion. GM's total investment includes the years 2020 to 2025. The company previously outlined a $27 billion target back in November 2020.

“We are investing aggressively in a comprehensive and highly-integrated plan to make sure that GM leads in all aspects of the transformation to a more sustainable future,” GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra said in a statement. “GM is targeting annual global EV sales of more than 1 million by 2025, and we are increasing our investment to scale faster because we see momentum building in the United States for electrification, along with customer demand for our product portfolio.”

Als men weet dat GM in 2020 nog altijd niet in de top 5 stond gaat er wel wat moeten veranderen...

Aan marktkapitalisatie wipt GM nipt naar vijfde plaats voor BYD (verloor wel -8,2%), ook dankzij die aankondiging (+2,14%):
