The U.S. command in Baghdad raided Ahmed Chalabi's home and headquarters in Baghdad at dawn today. U.S. soldiers put a gun to his head, according to his nephew Salem Chalabi, the "Ahmed is gathering groups to bring this new government down even before July 1. He is in a very destructive phase, mobilizing forces to make sure the U.N. initiative -- due to be announced in 10 days -- fails." Chalabi has reportedly been inflaming his recruits with reports that veteran Algerian diplomat Brahimi is part of a Sunni conspiracy bent on undermining the rights of Iraqi Shiites to hold power in Iraq.

Senior coalition law enforcement and justice officials said the raid on the compound of the Iraqi National Congress was part of an investigation of "suspected fraud in a government ministry."

But Chalabi -- who is head of finance in the Iraqi Governing Council and leader of the INC -- was not named in the warrant.

Iraqi police and U.S. military personnel who conducted the raid took away computers and documents but arrested no one, Chalabi told reporters at a Baghdad news conference.

Chalabi, who was previously a close adviser to the Pentagon, said the CPA is dissatisfied with his demands for Iraq's provisional government to be given full control of the Iraqi Army after the June 30 handover and for control of the investigation of fraud in the U.N. oil-for-food program.

"When America treats its friends this way, then they are in big trouble," Chalabi said

He called Thursday's raid "the penultimate act of failure of the CPA in Iraq."

He said his relationship with the CPA is now "non-existent."

Tot hiertoe hebben we kunnen afleiden dat onder die normen het volgende te verstaan is:
1. folteringen
2. vernederingen
3. massamoorden (veel tamtam rond die 700vs soldaten, maar over de tienduizenden iraakse slachtoffers praten we niet)
4. geen respect hebben voor plaatselijke bevolking (VS heeft daar ervaring mee cfr indianan)
5. fraude
6. leugens
7. stelen van plaatselijke rijkdommen
8. lachen met dode mensen

Een de wereld op leugens laten draaien op volle toeren :lol:
