Hommage to Catalonia van George Orwell is ook een klassieker. Wel meer ideologisch gekleurd maar een mooie beschrijving door iemand die het zelf heeft meegemaakt.

Hugh Thomas schreef zowat 'de bijbel' van de Spaanse Burgeroorlog.

Stiekem koos je ook daarom voor de titel 'For Whom The Bell Tolls', en niet iets wat meer voor de hand ligt.

Dat bedoel ik niet. Ik bedoel dat een groter deel van de wereldbevolking bij 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' denkt aan Metallica, dan op het boek waar dat nummer op gebaseerd werd.
