Als rationeel en zelfkritisch denker faal je toch heel duidelijk. Bewijs me eens dat die quotes echt van Hypathia zijn? Ik geloof er geen bal van; dat is overduidelijk geen taal van een persoon uit de oudheid. "Dogmatic religions" is duidelijk taalgebruik van het heden.

Hypathia was zelf een neo-platoniste en dus een theïst en een 'dogmatisch' denkster. Het monotheïstische neoplatonisme had ook dogmatische leerstellingen hoor. Geloof toch niet alles wat men je zegt, zeker niet over een persoon uit de oudheid, simpelweg omdat het in je kraam past.

On the second level, one attains purifying virtues and frees oneself from sensuality and all things of the flesh. The last stage is reached through a total loss of self. Then a person may see God. In that moment a person enjoys the highest indescribable bliss, bathed in the light of eternity. Porphyry says Plotinus attained this ecstatic union with God four times during their six years together.
