What a scene to behold: Two retired Catholic priests fought so viciously over a parking spot that one allegedly bit off the other's ear, reports Australia's News Network. Father Thomas Byrne, 80, battled 81-year-old Father Thomas Joseph Smith in their building complex yesterday in Perth, Australia, police say. After the fight, Byrne told Smith to pick something up off the ground; only when he got home did Smith realize it was his ear. So he wrapped it in a towel and rushed to a hospital for surgery.

When the two showed up in court, Byrne was sporting a black eye and Smith his newly reattached ear. A judge charged Byrne with grievous bodily harm and imposed tough bail restrictions: no going within 30 feet of Father Smith, no threatening him, and no communicating in any way. A neighbor in their complex couldn't believe it: "I was shocked because we're all in our 80s and retired priests," he said. "It's very quiet, although they are always driving in and out of the complex."

Catholic church: Priest reveals system of child sexual abuse and cover-up

A former priest in Australia has come forward with information about a "system of cover-ups" within the Catholic Church to hide the sexual abuse of children.

Former priest Kevin Lee appeared on the Australian news program Lateline on Friday, November 9. On the program, Lee said he “saw a system of cover-ups, a system of blind-eye turning and just ignorance of the fact that it (the sexual abuse of children) was happening.”

Lee said:

"I became aware that some of the other priests were actually paedophiles and were not necessarily becoming priests because they wanted to help people, but because they were paedophiles who wanted the opportunity."

Verschil tussen theorie en praktijk.
Dit verhaal deed me denken aan een mop, van een Amerikaan van Ierse afkomst.

Die Amerikaan had een belangrijke vergadering in een andere stad, maar daar aangekomen vond hij geen parkeerplaats. Hij rijdt dus het blok rond en rond en rond hopend dat er ergens een plaatsje vrij komt, maar zonder resultaat.
De tijd tikt weg en hij wordt nu wel erg nerveus. Dus bidt hij tot God, "O Heer geef mij alstublieft een parkeerplaats, ik beloof dat ik zal stoppen met Whisky drinken".
Op het moment dat hij dit gezegd heeft verlaat er een auto een parkeerplaats net voor zijn neus.
Waarop hij gerustgesteld zucht, "Laat maar vallen, God, ik heb er net één gevonden."

A FORMER Catholic priest accused of molesting boys at a Victorian school told a colleague that "God made us this way and it's his fault", court documents allege.


David Edwin Rapson, 59, is accused of abusing boys between 1973 and 1990, including at the Salesian College Rupertswood in Sunbury where he was a teacher.

Rapson is facing a committal hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

In a statement tendered today, one of the boys alleges he was molested by Rapson in the school infirmary when he was in year 10.

The boy said he was in the infirmary because he had been stung by a bee.

He alleges there were a number of children in the infirmary at the time and Rapson made each drink a cup of Milo.

The boy said the Milo tasted "a bit strong and quite acrid".

He said he saw Rapson, whom he called Brother Rapson, going to each bed and lifting up the blankets and making derogatory comments about the boys' penises.

He alleges another priest came into to the room and asked Rapson what he was doing.

Rapson replied: "You know what we do here."

To which the other priest said: "You've really got to resist."

Rapson replied: "God made us this way and it's his fault."

The boy's statement said Rapson also told the other priest he was the same as him.

A short time later Rapson allegedly molested the boy.

"While he was assaulting me he was saying things like 'You're useless, you're no good' and things like that," the boy said in his statement.

The boy, who is now in his 50s, gave his evidence in camera but his statement was released to the media.

Rapson is facing charges including one count of rape and four counts of indecently assaulting a child under 16.

The committal hearing before magistrate Greg McNamara is continuing.

Aalmoezenier aan de deur na klachten seksuele intimidatie


GENT - De Gentse gevangenis heeft een van zijn aalmoezeniers aan de deur gezet omdat hij drie vrouwen betastte. Minstens twee van hen waren geïnterneerd. Opmerkelijk: aalmoezenier Ives D.M. (41) nam het net openlijk op voor het lot van deze groep psychiatrische gevangenen.

Twee weken geleden vertelde een vrouw in de Gentse gevangenis aan directeur Luc Stas dat ze betast was door de aalmoezenier. De vrouw is geïnterneerd: ze zit in een speciale afdeling van de gevangenis voor psychiatrische patiënten. Ze vertelde dat aalmoezenier Ives haar tijdens een gebedsessie plots begon te betasten.

Het was volgens de vrouw één keer gebeurd, maar het gevangeniswezen nam het incident meteen bijzonder ernstig. ‘We hebben hem meteen de toegang tot de gevangenis ontzegd’, zegt woordvoerder Laurent Sempot. Aalmoezeniers zijn geen gevangenispersoneel, ze vallen onder de kerkelijke overheid. ‘Maar we vonden de klacht voldoende geloofwaardig, om die maatregel te nemen’, zegt Sempot. ‘Het ging om ongepast en grensoverschrijdend gedrag. Voor ons is dit ontoelaatbaar.’

De man zou ondertussen bekentenissen hebben afgelegd. Hij hield de eer aan zichzelf, en liet de gevangenis weten dat hij stopt als aalmoezenier.

The baby was then stolen and sold to a family acceptable to the Catholics and politically acceptable. The babies came at a high price to the purchasers, the cost of a flat in one case stated.

The exact numbers are unknown, it's estimated to be between 30 and 300 thousand babies. In recent cases of exhumations, coffins were found to be empty, or filled with rocks, one even had an adult human leg inside. The true scale of this horror is incomprehensible and the suffering immeasurable.

The complete disregard for humanity and any decency whatsoever makes you wonder just how such a vile disgusting organisation continues and sports a membership of a billion plus. The Magdalene Laundries being another great abuse of people and the last Magdalene asylum only closed within the last twenty years.

Mooi, ik wist evenwel niet dat ongelovigen priesters toch als moreel voorbeeld zien.

Dat er daarnaast bijna dertig katholieke aalmoezeniers werkzaam zijn met een onberispelijke dienst van staat, wordt natuurlijk niet vermeld.

Wat "nieuws" betekent hoef ik niet uit de doeken te doen.
