Brazilië en Uruguay dumpen de petrodollar
 

De centrale banken van Brazilië en Uruguay hebben een bilaterale overeenkomst betreffende handel in lokale munt gesloten. Vanaf 1 december zal 'de omweg' via het groene FED-biljet niet langer van toepassing zijn, alle financiële transacties tussen beide naties zullen vanaf dat moment in lokale valuta gebeuren.

Een project dat reeds sinds 2008 in de pijplijn zat wordt eindelijk geconcretiseerd.
China laat alvast weten dat het veel belangstelling toont voor deze interessante ontwikkeling en dat het bereid is een soorgelijk akkoord met de betrokken partijen af te sluiten.

Uruguay y Brasil firman convenio para comerciar en monedas locales
El acuerdo que permitirá el comercio en monedas locales (prescindiendo del dólar) entre Uruguay y Brasil fue firmado el viernes por el presidente del Banco Central (BCU), Alberto Graña y su par del Banco Central de Brasil (BCB), Alexandre Tombini.

Brazil/Argentina bilateral trade to abolish US dollar
Brazilian and Argentine presidents Lula da Silva and Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner signed on Monday an agreement which officially launches the use of their countries currencies for bilateral trade instead of the US dollar.
Brazil's Central Bank said in a release that it had signed with the Argentine Central Bank an accord which establishes the rules for the Local Currencies Payments System, SML between the senior members of Mercosur. Finance minister Guido Mantega later said the agreement becomes effective on an experimental basis, as of next October. He said the system could be extended to include other members of Mercosur, Paraguay, Uruguay and eventually Venezuela when it finalizes the incorporation process. Under the SML system Argentine and Brazilian importers and exporters can use their own currencies for trade operations.

De nieuwe G7:


Analysis of a new IMF report projects the top seven emerging markets, measured at purchasing power parity (PPP), will overtake the conventional G7 group of industrialized economies in 2014.

The Financial Times estimated that the seven largest emerging economies can hypothetically be called a new G7: four BRICS members - Brazil, Russia, India and China and three countries of the so-called MINT - Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey, will have a combined GDP of $37.8 trillion in 2014 when calculated at purchasing power parity (PPS). However, the long established G7 group of industrialized nations: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US are expected to have an output of $34.5 trillion.

The IMF World Outlook update showed that China is now the world’s largest economy in terms of PPP having surpassed the US. In terms of relative prices China’s output is forecast to soar to $17.6 trillion, which is above the $17.4 trillion of the US.
