Mexican authorities have arrested the former mayor of a rural community in the border state of Coahuila in connection with the kidnapping, murder and incineration of hundreds of victims through a network of ovens at the hands of the Los Zetas cartel. The arrest comes after Breitbart Texas exposed not only the horrors of the mass extermination, but also the cover-up and complicity of the Mexican government.

On Thursday morning, Coahuila state authorities arrested Sergio Alonzo Rodriguez, the former mayor of Allende, Coahuila, on the charge of aggravated kidnapping, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Coahuila government revealed. Rodriguez was the mayor of Allende, Coahuila in March, 2011, when a commando of Los Zetas kidnapped dozens of people who were then murdered and incinerated.

Earlier this year, Breitbart Texas published the results of a three-month investigation into how Los Zetas were able to kidnap, torture, execute and incinerate approximately 300 victims–including women and children–between 2011 and 2013. Approximately 150 of the victims were taken to the Piedras Negras state prison where cartel members used 55-gallon drums to incinerate the human remains.

Mexican court documents obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed that the wave of terror unleashed by Los Zetas began as an internal spat between Los Zetas, resulting in the leadership ordering the murder of every individual related, connected or associated with two former members. The kill list included women and children. Court documents and testimonies from victims’ relatives revealed that while the kidnappings began in 2011, they continued well into 2013 when the crimes came to a temporary halt.

Despite the magnitude, news outlets in both the U.S. and Mexico largely ignored the story as cartels continued to reign in that country with impunity. After Breitbart Texas’ exposé, authorities charged a handful of Los Zetas members in connection with the incinerations inside the prison, but public officials had managed to escape scrutiny.

The governor at the time of the massacre, Humberto Moreira, was accused and later released in Spain for having been a surrogate of the Los Zetas cartel–however he, too, has managed to avoid facing a judge in Mexico. Moreira had various assets seized by U.S. courts.


The arrest of the former mayor comes just one day after CNN’s Jake Tapper tweeted out Breitbart Texas’ exposé on the incineration of hundreds of victims in Allende. Tapper’s tweet set off a social media storm among U.S. journalists who have largely ignored the horrors carried out by cartels in Mexico.

There is talk of Breitbart bureaus opening in Paris, Berlin and Cairo, spots where the populist right is on the rise. A bigger newsroom is coming in Washington, the better to cover a president-elect whose candidacy it embraced.

Mainstream news outlets are soul-searching in the wake of being shocked by Donald J. Trump’s election last week. But the team at Breitbart News, the right-wing opinion and news website that some critics have denounced as a hate site, is elated — and eager to expand on a victory that it views as a profound validation of its cause.

“So much of the media mocked us, laughed at us, called us all sorts of names,” Alexander Marlow, the site’s editor in chief, said in an interview on Sunday. “And then for us to be seen as integral to the election of a president, despite all of that hatred, is something that we certainly enjoy, and savor.”

Breitbart not only championed Mr. Trump; its chairman, Stephen K. Bannon, helped run his campaign. On Sunday, Mr. Trump named Mr. Bannon as his chief White House strategist and senior counselor, further closing the distance between Breitbart’s newsroom and the president-elect.

Those who consider Mr. Trump, who has vilified the news media, a threat to the free press view Mr. Bannon’s appointment as more cause for alarm. Critics say Breitbart now has the potential to play an unprecedented role in a modern presidency, as a weaponized media adjunct for the White House.

“It will be as close as we are ever going to have — hopefully — to a state-run media enterprise,” said Kurt Bardella, a former Breitbart spokesman who quit the site this year, saying it had turned into a de facto “super PAC” for Mr. Trump.

Breitbart has been denounced as misogynist, racist and xenophobic, and it served as a clearinghouse for attacks on Mr. Trump’s adversaries, spreading unsubstantiated rumors about Hillary Clinton’s health and undermining its own reporter, Michelle Fields, after she accused Corey Lewandowski, then Mr. Trump’s campaign manager, of assaulting her.

Breitbart en co vertellen jou continue dat er achter het gordijn stoute monsters zitten die belangrijke zaken voor je willen achterhouden, en dat het daarom geen enkel nut heeft achter dat gordijn te kijken.

...maar wat weerhoudt jou ervan om dat toch eens een keer te doen? Is het niet gevaarlijker om het risico te lopen dat jouw enige overgebleven informatiebron je gewoon beliegt, dan dat je toch eens achter dat gordijn gaat piepen om te confirmeren dat wat ze je vertellen wel degelijk klopt?

Wat is er gebeurd in jouw leven dat je enkel nog luistert naar degene die beweert wel in jouw plaats achter het gordijn te zullen kijken, en jou te vertellen wat ze gezien hebben?

Denk klein licht denk hard.

Als hij niet achter 't gordijn zou kijken, zou hij niet weten dat er achter 't gordijn dingen verzwegen worden, als hij niet achter 't gordijn zou kijken, zou hij niet weten wat CNN (achter 't gordijn) bericht.

Waarom geloof je Breitbart dan blindelings als ze jou vertellen dat de 'reguliere media' niet zouden berichten over geweld van Mexicaanse drugkartels?

Hoe komt het dan dat hij niet weet dat CNN al 1.000 keer meer informatie bericht heeft over Los Zetas dan Breitbart?

Als hij echt achter het gordijn zou kijken, waarom laat hij zich daar dan zonder nadenken door vangen?

Wat Breitbart doet, is enkel melden dat de burgemeester werd opgepakt (of zou opgepakt zijn), niet meer dan dat. Over de slachting werd reeds in 2011 bericht.

Nu, heel cynisch gezien zijn moordpartijen dagelijkse kost ginder in Mexico, sommigen worden belicht, anderen niet. Wegens meestal weinig nieuwswaarde.

Allé , ge meent dat niet. Zou dat er soms iets mee te maken kunnen hebben dat Trump een hoge muur wil tussen zijn land en het zalige Mexico?
