Arafat: The Man, the Myth, a Legend
![]() One might disagree with you but no one can refute you. You are the father of Palestine, President Yasser Arafat. A survivor, a freedom fighter, a peacemaker, a leader of compassion, You stood your ground and held on with a tight grip to both the olive branch and the freedom fighters’ pistol. Never giving up on the dream of freedom and liberty for a dispossessed nation, leading by example which kept you close to as well as respected by all, being reachable and accessible to the populace - young and old, rich and poor - your humanity prevails and is a reference and a rule. Staying focused on the goal and never crossing the red lines, Jerusalem and Refugees, you always took into consideration the public opinion and the unalienable rights of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause. Your legend will live on and your image will never be forgotten. The ‘peace of the brave’ you had started will be honored by the Palestinians. The unity you provided will be remembered and in your memory it will be respected. Your steadfastness and resilience, ‘the symbol,’ will be the foundations of a nation. As an old man, you were not spared the disrespect and relentlessness of the Israeli army, but knowing that you thrived on being like the rest of your people, besieged yet strong, you die an honorable death and set the standards higher than all. All leaders of the world fantasize about having your popularity and your attachment to a nation and the love and attachment of a nation to you. You remain a true hero with a historic achievement for a broad based nation of refugees and an occupied people that will always exist and never be forgotten. With heart filled gratitude to you and your commitment, the fight for humanity and justice and against occupation and oppression today throughout the world has come to be symbolized by the fight for a free Palestine. Mr. President, we promise to keep your dream alive and in your death Palestine will live on. Uit respect voor een ware held en ware freedom fighter !! The Martyr of Freedom: President Arafat + 11/11/2004 |
