Seoul orders deportation of 7 foreigners for breaching self-isolation rules

Last week, South Korea ordered the deportation of seven foreigners who went outside despite being under self-isolation, the justice ministry said Sunday.

The ministry said it ordered three Vietnamese students in the southwestern city of Gunsan to leave the country on Friday. They were found to have left their home without their mobile phones.

The government's self-isolation app uses GPS tracking in mobile phones to monitor people in self-isolation.

Another student, a Malaysian national, was also told to leave the country on the same day. Despite being under self-isolation, the student went outside three times without carrying a mobile phone.

The ministry said it issued them an order to leave the country, rather than forcing them to leave, considering unstable flight schedules.

This means the students will have to leave the country immediately once flight schedule issues are resolved. Until then, they will remain under the custody of the immigration office.

Last week, the government also deported three Vietnamese nationals for breaking quarantine guidelines.

They include a married couple who were found in the southeastern city of Gimhae after leaving their registered address in Seoul, and a crew member who went out fishing.

The government has ordered the deportation of eight people since it imposed a mandatory self-isolation on all international arrivals. Separately, 29 were denied entry for refusing to go into self-isolation upon their arrival here. (Yonhap)
Nogal eens een verschil met hier, niet? :-):-);-)

Korea number one :BIG: :BIG:

De keerzijde is dat ik weliswaar maar even zal wachten met een trip naar daar; heb niet echt zin in hun gedoe moet ik zeggen :-):-):-)

Seoul, April 3 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's justice ministry said Friday it has implemented an administrative order that restricts the scope of activities for all foreign arrivals for the first time over the new coronavirus pandemic.

The restriction order has begun to apply to all foreign entrants who have arrived in South Korea since Wednesday as the government is struggling to curb imported cases of COVID-19.

A justice minister can issue an order to limit the scope of activity for foreigners when there is a need to keep public orders and protect the country's key interests.

It marked the first time that such an order has been implemented. Violators can face a prison term of a maximum three years or a fine up to 20 million won (US$16,261).

The action came as some foreigners infected with the coronavirus did not follow the self-isolation rules and traveled without wearing masks, raising the risk of infections in communities.

The government has required all international arrivals to be quarantined for two weeks since Wednesday. Foreigners who do not abide by the self-isolation rules will be deported.

The justice ministry called on foreigners to follow the quarantine rules and the restriction order.

Amai :-(
