Your primary duty is forever to protect and defend the Turkish independence and the Turkish Republic. This is the very foundation of your existence and your future. This foundation is your most precious treasure.

In the future, there may be malevolent people at the home and abroad who will wish to deprive you of this treasure. If one day, you are compelled to defend your your independence and the Republic, then in order to fulfil your duty, you will have to look beyond the possibilities and conditions in which you might find yourself. These possibilities and conditions may turn out to be extremely unfauourable. The enemy who triesto destroy your independence and your Republic, may represents the strongest force that the earth has ever seen. By force and by craft, all strong holds and all arsenals of our dear fatherland may have been taken, all of its armies may have been defeated and all corners of the country may have been physically occupied. More distressing and grievous than all these, those who hold and exercise the power within the country may gave fallen into gross error, blunder and even treason. These holders of power may have united their personel interests with the political ambitions of the invarders. The nation itself may have fallen into complete privation and may have be come exhausted and devastated.

You, the sons and daughters, the future of Turkiye, even under such circumstances and conditions, your duty is to save the Turkish independence and the Republic, you will find the power you need in the noble blood in your veins.

The Turkish Nation

We have performed very big works in a short period of time. The biggest of such works is the Republic of Turkey based on the heroism and Turkish Culture. We owe the success to determinative cooperation between the Turkish nation and its esteemed Army. We can never consider those works sufficient. Because we have to perform bigger works. We shall rise our national culture above the level of contemporary civilization. Therefore, the time should conform with the speed and action concept of our century. We shall work harder. We shall realize bigger works in shorter time. We shall be succesful. The Turkish Nation hard is working. The Turkish Nation is intelligent. Because, the Turkish Nation had overcome the difficulties by national unity. Because the torch in the hand of the Turkish Nation on the way of progress is positive science. Another characteristic of the Turkish Nation is to love the fine arts end to reach a high level in these fields. Therefore, it is our national ideal to develop by all means the good character, industriousness, natural intelligence, particularity about science and fine arts, and national unity concept. Today I definitelly state that, the whole world of civilization will once again recognize the greatness of the Turkish Nation, in a short period of time.

I never doubt that the great civil character of Turkism and its great civil ability will rise as a sun over high horizon of civilisation, through further development.

Happy is the man who calls himself a Turk.

[font=tahoma][size=2] I address the Turkish Army whose record of victory started at the down of the history of mankind and which has carried the light of civilization in its victorious progress.

I have no doubt that just as in the most critical and difficult times you saved the country from oppression, tragedy and enemy invasion, so today, in the fruitful era of the Republic equpped with all the modern weapons and means of military science you will do your duty with the same faith.

I and our great nation know that you are always prepared to carry out your duty defending the honour of our country and our civilisation against danger, from inside our out.
