Turkey to Send New Satellite in 2008 By Anadolu News Agency (aa), Ankara Published: Saturday, February 25, 2006 zaman.com Adding new communication satellites, Turkey will reinforce its existence in space soon. Turksat Joint Stock Company signed a contract with the French Alcatel company for the new technology production of Turksat 3A satellite that will be sent to space in 2008. Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said the satellite will have higher technology in terms of coverage area, its display, and data communication quality. Twenty-two Turkish engineers were assigned for the production of the satellite. According to the minister, the new satellite coverage area will be more sensitive, serving a larger area. Unlike the older satellites, the new satellite will be able to serve with simple and small receivers. |
