Berghof Foundation NAZI work

Colombo, 29 August, (Asiantribune.com): The Berghof Foundation seems very
perturbed over my criticism of the organization in the August 19 Asian
Tribune. Calling it "highly defamatory." Berghof Director Norbert Ropers has
given a general account of the foundation's activity in Sri Lanka during the
past five years.

Ropers' response however does not answer any of the issues I raised in my
report. So I shall repeat them below more clearly, adding a few more points.

No. 1: If the Berghof Foundation is genuinely and sincerely committed to
promoting peace, democracy and anti-fascism why has it not condemned in the
strongest possible terms `Fuehrer' Prabhakaran's despotic rule in the North?

No. 2: Is having `a soft corner' for him (Prabha) and his proxies - the
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) - BF's idea of `impartial conflict studies'?
(The BF endeavouring to be `multi-partial' on this issue seems to be nothing
but another buzzword)

No. 3: Does BF consider the LTTE as the sole representative (though it has
no legal basis to claim so) of the Tamil people?

No. 4: If however BF does not accept the LTTE as the Tamils' sole rep then
has the Foundation seriously called for political pluralism in
Tiger-dominated areas and condemned Prabhakaran's despotism?

No. 5: Does not the German Constitution strictly prohibit Germans from
promoting or tolerating neo-Nazism, racism, LTTE-style ethnic cleansing and
dictatorship in that country or elsewhere?

No 6: Has BF strongly condemned the recruitment of children to LTTE combat
units?

No. 7: Is it BF's objective to persuade the Sri Lanka Government that it has
no right to militarily overpower the LTTE (which is listed as a terrorist
organization and banned in the USA, Canada, the European Union, Australia
and Canada)?

No. 8: Is BF's blueprint for lasting peace to `right size' country's defence
forces (especially the Air Force) so that their strength and power will not
surpass that of the Wanni Tigers - an illegal terrorist group?

No. 9: If BF does not deny such a blueprint, then did the Government of Sri
Lanka assign the BF to work out such a program (for reducing the State's
military strength)?

No. 10: Has BF and its TNA friends influenced the German Embassy, Colombo to
view Sri Lanka's crisis here largely through their eyes?

No. 11: Is it therefore BF's idea to promote in Sri Lanka not federalism but
a confederation (which is virtual separation)?

No. 12: Is BF trying to acquire diplomatic status in Sri Lanka with the help
of the German Embassy?

JVP Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa too raised some of the above issues,
when he participated in the Independent Television Network's political
discussion program `Thulawa' on May 25. He also recalled having seen
Prabhakaran's photo displayed prominently in the BF Sri Lanka office
(although there is no independent verification of this).
