Doet me denken aan een verhaaltje die ik een paar maanden geleden gelezen heb...
Long ago, high above in the sky beyond the clouds, was a beautiful palace. It was called the Palace Of Truth and it looked most beautiful surrounded by colorful lights. One day, a unique celebration was in progress. There was music and fragrance in the air. At the center of the palace was a sacred shrine. It was a huge hall, inaccessible and unknown to humans. Here were gathered virtues surrounded by beauty and delight. The virtues were very happy to be together since they were usually scattered¾never together at one place.
The most conspicuous was Sincerity holding a crystal in her hand through which she could see everything in the right perspective, transparent. With her were the guardians, Humility, proud in the proper sense, and Courage, calm and firm with clear eyes. Holding Courage’s hand was his companion Prudence always careful and cautious. Moving about in this unique gathering were Charity and her twin sister Justice. Charity moved about spreading light of white color. Also present were Kindness, Patience, Generosity and Solicitude.
The virtues were moving about with great joy as they were together. Suddenly their eyes fell on a frail and unassuming lady dressed in white at the gate. No one seemed to know her, so the virtues asked Prudence to inquire. Prudence cleared her throat as if she was embarrassed. She walked up to the gate and asked the stranger what her name was, as they did not seem to know her. To this the lady in white replied, “I am not surprised at your ignorance, I am seldom invited anywhere; my name is Gratitude.”
