Britse regering bevriest relatie Iran
 

De Britse regering heeft bewijzen gegeven die aantonen dat Iran 15 Britse soldaten heeft ontvoerd.

De 15 werden opgepakt tijdens een controle van een schip in het grensgebied tussen Irak en Iran.

Volgens Teheran bevonden ze zich in Iraanse territoriale wateren. De Britten hebben nu satellietbeelden vrijgegeven waarop te zien is dat ze zich nog op Iraaks grondgebied bevonden.

De kwestie doet de spanning tussen de twee landen oplaaien. Groot-Brittannië heeft zijn relaties met Iran bevroren. De prijzen op de oliemarkt stijgen uit vrees voor een nieuw conflict.

Achwatismedat gaat weer denken dat zijn Mahdi gaat komen zeker?

De achtergrond bij dit verhaal is volgens mij de toenemende druk van Amerikaanse en Iraakse militairen op Iraanse diplomaten en militairen aanwezig in Irak.

Washington beschuldigt Iran ervan actief mee te werken in het conflict in Irak en organiseert regelmatig commando-raids waarbij het Iraniërs arresteert.

Zo onder meer een kolonel en een brigadier-general. Brig. Gen. Mohsen Chirazi was blijkbaar de nummer 3 van de al-Quds Brigade, een afdeling van de Iraanse Revolutionaire Garde die ervan verdacht wordt militante organisaties in heel het midden-oosten te bewapenen, te trainen en financieel te steunen.

De VS liet de twee hoge pieten al na een week gaan (The Pentagon wanted to hold the two top al-Quds officials for questioning, but the State Department backed an Iraqi request to deport them. They were sent home a week after their capture.)

Irak en de VS hebben waarschijnlijk nog een hele bende Iraniërs met een lagere of geen rang opgesloten zitten die ze niet willen laten gaan. Maken de 15 gekidnapte Britten deel uit van een toekomstige ruil?

Volgens mij zijn er te weinig blanke reten in Iran voor hun perverse leiders. Dat is alles.

In January 2007 the Bush administration authorized the U.S. military to kill or capture Iranian military and intelligence operatives inside Iraq as part of a strategy to weaken Iran's influence in Iraq and compel the government to end its nuclear program.

Senior administration officials said the policy is based on the theory that Iran will back down from its nuclear ambitions if the United States hits it hard in Iraq and elsewhere, creating a sense of vulnerability among Iranian leaders. The policy "does not" extend to Iranian civilians or diplomats.

However, United States troops raided an Iranian office in northern Iraq on 11 January 2007 and detained five employees. "Around 5.00 a.m., after disarming the guards they (U.S. troops) entered into the office, and arrested five employees," the official IRNA news agency claimed, adding that documents and computers were seized. The fate of the detained employees is not known.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, the detained Iranians had been working in Irbil with official sanction, but that their alleged liaison office had not yet become a full consulate.

The head of the Iranian parliament's foreign policy and security commission said he hoped the report is "wrong as such an order is a clear terrorist act and against all internationally acknowledged norms."

London, Asharq Al-Awsat- A military source close to the command of the Iranian Al-Quds Brigade revealed to Asharq al-Awsat the motives behind detaining 15 British sailors in Shatt al-Arab on Friday. He said the decision to take in the British military elements was taken at an emergency meeting of the Higher Defense Council in the light of a report received by Brigadier Qasim Sulaymani, the commander of Al-Quds Brigade, and communicated on 18 March to General Hasan Fayruz Abadi, the armed forces Chief-of-staff.
Asharq al-Awsat learns that the report contained a warning that the operations undertaken by Al-Quds Brigade and the Revolutionary Guards have become exposed to American and British military intelligence after the arrest by American forces of Brigadier Tayshizri, the commander of Al-Quds Brigade operations in Iraq, and his assistant, Brigadier Qayim, and three of their aides in Irbil, and the subsequent abduction of Jalal Sharafi, the representative of the Intelligence Ministry at the Iranian diplomatic mission in Baghdad, in addition to the disappearance of Colonel Amir Muhammad Hussein Shirazi in Turkey. Sources said he has defected but Iran says he was kidnapped. He is one of the most important intelligence officers in Al-Quds Brigade in Iraq.

The Revolutionary Guards intelligence had submitted to the joint chiefs of staff of the Iranian armed forces early in March a plan to abduct a number of American and British military to exchange them for the detained Iranian officers, who total 15 officer and intelligence agents. But the Joint Chiefs of Staff called for giving the issue more time and allowing room for diplomatic contacts between the Iraqi and Iranian Foreign Ministries. It was learned that Foreign Minister Manouchehr Muttaqi received promises from his Iraqi counterpart Hushyar Zebari that the five officers arrested in Irbil might be released before the Nowruz feasts (Iranian New Year). But Nowruz was celebrated in 21 March and no news came about the said officers except for a phone call one of them had with his wife in the presence of a representative from the International Reed Cross. It was then that instructions were issued to the units of the Guards and the Marine Base at Khurramshahr to implement the first part of the plan by laying siege and detaining one of the British Navy patrols charged with combating smuggling. The Revolutionary Guards Navy had undertaken a similar act in June 2004 when it detained two British officers and six soldiers in two boats. They were released on 21 June 2004 after high-level contacts between London and Tehran.

An Iranian military source said that the Guard Command will not relinquish easily the card of the 15 detained Britons. The British Embassy in Baghdad has warned the Iranian Embassy of the consequences of continuing to detain the 15 soldiers.

The British Navy soldiers were detained after they finished searching a commercial vessel in Iraqi waters. They were circled by Iranian boats and led to Iran's territorial waters, according to the British account. Iran said they were in its territorial waters. Iran and Britain have summoned the chiefs of their respective diplomatic missions and asked for clarifications.

Misschien is het de bedoeling van Iran de olieprijs op te drijven. Dankzij hoge olieprijzen kan Teheran basisgoederen subsidiëren en zo het volk rustig houden. Ook kan het regime door internationale spanningen te veroorzaken het volk weer verenigen tegen een externe vijand. Het regime zelf heeft af te rekenen met een jonge, werkloze bevolking die de bekrompen wetten beu is. Het lijkt me het slimst voor het westen de democratische opositie in Iran te steunen en voor de rest Ahjmadinejad zo veel mogelijk te negeren.

Nogal wat raadgevers van BZ in de USA ondersteunen die mening. Ahjmadinejad heeft heel wat projecten beloofd om oa werkloze jongeren te ondersteunen. Ze zijn voorlopig maar een belofte gebleven, wegens gebrek aan geld.

Ze willen gewoon 15 gevangen Iraniërs terug. Actie was al lang gepland, uitvoering startte toen de 15 niet vrijkwamen zoals verwacht voor het Iraanse nieuwjaar. Zie post hierboven.

BBC Radio 4 zegt net dat Iran heeft aangekondigd dat ze de enige vrouw in het gezelschap weldra zullen laten gaan.

De oliemagnaten zullen weer blij zijn. Volgens mij gaan ze Amadinges nog wel een cadeau sturen.

Ik zie geen bewijzen in dat mapje hierboven.
Wat voor een bewijswaarde heeft dat?

Dat is gewoon een tekeningtje, niet meer!

Hoe, en de Iraniërs hebben bewijzen vrijgegeven die aantonen dat de Britten in hun territoriale wateren bezig waren.

Zo kunnen we dus bezig blijven.

Dan maar naar de essentie van de zaak: what the fawkk doen Britse mariniers in rubber-boten zo vlak bij Iran? Stel u eens voor dat er voor de Britse kust voortdurend zwarte gardes uit Teheran zouden patrouilleren, ge zoudt nogal anders beginnen briesen.

Het gps toestel op de foto toont coördinaten waar de boot zich bevindt.

Op CNN zag ik vandaag dat 30% van alle olie door dat stuk zee komt dus de Amerikanen en Britten patrouilleren daar om de olietankers veilig door te laten.

Een kaartje van de Telegraph toont de twee olieterminals. Daarover heb ik de kaart van de persconferentie van defensie gelegd. Positie van het fregat (paars), positie(s) van het vrachtschip volgens de Iraniërs (blauw).

De positie van het Indische vrachtschip (geel) klopt met de GPS-gegevens na de feiten (gecheckt via Google Earth).

Een opvallend verschil tussen de twee kaarten is de demarcatiezone van Irak. Die is op de kaart van de persconferentie groter (rode lijn). De eerste positie die de Iraniërs doorgaven ligt ruim binnen die rode lijn, maar ongeveer op de grens volgens het andere plan.

Let op: de schaal van de kaart is dusdanig dat de 3 posities maar een paar kilometer uit elkaar liggen.

De rest houden ze natuurlijk...En zo lijken ze toch een beetje menselijk.:roll:

Update:

Iranian state television reported Leading Seaman Turney would not be released "for the time being".
The head of Iran's supreme national security council, Ali Larijani, was quoted as saying: "It was announced that a woman in the group would be freed, but (this development) was met with an incorrect attitude."

De actie vond plaats op 23 maart.

In his column, Karagul wrote that while the mystery of Asghari's disappearance is still unsolved, Iranian Col. Amir Muhammad Shirazi and Gen. Muhammad Sultani are missing. He added that fingers in Iran are pointing at U.S. and Israeli intelligence services, and wrote, "It is said that five Iranians left Iran on Friday, March 16, and entered Turkey at midnight on March 17, and that they were handed over to CIA and Mossad agents on March 18. Whether Col. Shirazi and Gen. Sultani were among these five is not clear." He warned, "If the U.S. keeps kidnapping Iranian officials, a big storm will erupt, because Iranian circles are warning that they have the capability and manpower to kidnap or strike at any U.S. or Israeli target, any time and anywhere in the world."
