Deze uitspraak werd gemaakt toen Eisenhower zijn carriere beëindigde en zich dergelijke waarschuwingen kon permitteren.
Andere grote heren hebben ook laten blijken dat er een grote macht is die het politieke sturen bepaalt wanneer zij zich dat konden permitteren. In "The New Freedom" prijst Woodrow Wilson bijvoorbeeld het Amerikaanse systeem, maar vindt hij het blijkbaar toch nodig om deze macht achter te schermen te vermelden:

Een ander prachtig voorbeeld is het artikel van Churchill uit 1920 waarbij hij "nationale Joden" (zionisten) prijst en waarbij hij het "internationale jodendom" (bolschevisten) verafschuwt. Erg opvallend is de beschrijving die hij geeft van het internationale Jodendom, die zeer sterk lijkt om die gegeven door Hitler en kompanen. Hitler besteedde echter weinig aandacht aan het zionisme (dat in die tijd lang niet zo populair was onder Joden als vandaag) en zag het "internationale jodendom" niet enkel als de drijvende kracht achter het bolschevisme maar ook achter de "parlementaire democratie".
Of het nu werkelijk het "internationale Jodendom" is dat achter de schermen werkt, dat laat ik bij dezen terzijde. Het was een mode-trend in het begin van de 20ste eeuw om de schaduw-elite te vereenzelvigen met de Joodse elite. Uiteraard zijn er naast Joden eveneens heel wat niet-Joden betrokken en heeft lang niet elke Jood ook maar enige invloed van betekenis. Belangrijk is in eerste plaats dat Churchill erkende dat het Bolschevisme en de Franse revolutie projecten waren die werden gestart door een groepje manipulators met als doel de oude orde omver te werpen (in Rusland was dat het Tsaristisch regime) en te vervangen door een totalitair regime waar zij de baas spelen.
Desondanks zou Churchill later meelopen in de anti-Duitse rhetoriek en samen met Stalin het Derde Rijk proberen te vernietigen.

Daarnaast hebben ook lieden als Carroll Quigley en Andreas von Bülow openlijk gesproken over de machten achter de schermen. Carroll Quigley deed dat uit grote bewondering, waar Andreas von Bülow heeft gewacht tot jaren na zijn politieke carriere om deze machten aan te klagen. Dit deed hij oa in zijn boeken "Im Namen des Staates" (over de macht van de geheime diensten CIA, Mossad en de duitse BND) en "Die CIA und der 11. September. Internationaler Terror und die Rolle der Geheimdienste" (waar hij erkent dat de CIA rechtstreeks verantwoordelijk is voor 9/11).
