De bouw van een fabriek in het Engelse Rugby zorgt voor flink wat beroering bij de plaatstelijke moslimpopulatie. De fabriek gaat hondeneten maken en zal daarvoor (afval van) varkensvlees gebruiken. Volgens de moslims betekent dat in de rook uit de schoorstenen ook nog varken zit en dat ze dat gaan inademen. Moslims mogen geen varkensvlees eten.

Woordvoerder Grant Scott van the Cotton Park Residential Association, die de fabriek zal bouwen, geeft in The Daily mail toe dat hij al veel veel klachten kreeg van moslims. Scott wil het probleem niet minimaliseren, maar zegt anderzijds: "Dit betekent dat ook Hindoes zouden kunnen protesteren omdat we rundvlees gebruiken. En zo blijven we natuurlijk bezig."

De moslimgemeenschap argumenteert dat hun recht op vrije geloofsbeleving door de fabriek wordt geschaad. Ze eist dat de fabriek een andere locatie krijgt. (hln)
