Inwoners van Port Isabel schrokken zich een ongeluk toen de grond begon te daveren. Een bewoner spreekt bij de krant van een “mini-aardbeving”. “Het was echt angstaanjagend”, zegt een andere bewoonster, die haar huis voelde schudden.

Nog een andere bewoonster getuigt bij de krant over de “aanzienlijke laag” redelijk dik, korrelig zand die later neerkwam. Verschillende omwonenden deelden op sociale media foto’s en filmpjes van het stof. De stad Port Isabel bevestigde in een bericht op Facebook dat de stofregen afkomstig was van “zand en grond van de nabije SpaceX-lanceersite die door de kracht van de lancering de lucht in was geslingerd”.

Een stuk strand en een deel van een snelweg werden tijdelijk afgesloten om de boel op te kuisen.

Die hoge onderscheiding of eervolle prijs of vermelding heeft hij nochtans nog niet. De lijst groeit elk jaar, ondertussen 38 volgens Wikipedia.
