Dat zei u inderdaad, maar het is niet meer en niet minder dan een groteske leugen. Russisch blijft behouden in de kleuter en lagere school, en partieel in het middelbaar. Het is trouwens dezelfde regeling voor de Roemeens- en Hongaarstaligen. Hogere studies zijn voortaal in het Oekraïens, wat vrij normaal is daar Oekraïens nu eenmaal de rijkstaal is en iedereen die taal ook goed hoort te beheersen. Daarom ook de noodzaak dat zeker hogeropgeleiden die taal in het werkveld beheersen.

The provision, which entered into force on January 16, is stipulated in article 25 of the law. It requires print media outlets registered in Ukraine to publish in Ukrainian.
Article 25, regarding print media outlets, makes exceptions for certain minority languages, English, and official EU languages, but not for Russian. Ukrainian authorities justify this by referring to the country’s European ambitions and “the century of oppression of … Ukrainian in favor of Russian.”
There are concerns about whether guarantees for minority languages are sufficient. The Venice Commission, the Council of Europe’s top advisory body on constitutional matters, said that several of the law’s articles, including article 25, “failed to strike a fair balance” between promoting the Ukrainian language and safeguarding minorities’ linguistic rights. It stated that “historical oppression of Ukrainian ... may lead to the adoption of positive measures aimed at promoting Ukrainian, but this cannot justify depriving the Russian language and its speakers of the protection granted to other languages…”

Stel je dus voor een wet in Belgie die media in het Nederlands of Frans verbiedt.
40 % van de bevolking, een historische minderheid, mag dus geen tv kijken of kranten lezen in eigen taal. (sociale media werd al hard aangepakt in 2017)Dat is dus vergelijken met het sluiten van alle Franstalige zenders en kranten.
De wetten betreffende onderwijs zijn gelijkaardig.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine reminds that the language of the educational process is the state language in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine „On Education” (Article 7), „On Complete General Secondary Education” (Article 5), „On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” (Article 21).
In addition, according to Article 9 of the Law „On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language,” heads of educational institutions of all forms of ownership, pedagogical, scientific and pedagogical and research staff are required to speak the state language and use it in the performance of their official duties.
