Syrische veiligheidsdiensten: "Israëlische troepen tot op 25 km van Damascus opgerukt", Israël ontkent
Bronnen bij de Syrische veiligheidsdiensten melden dat Israëlische troepen tot op 25 kilometer van Damascus zijn opgerukt na een reeks zware luchtaanvallen. Volgens het Syrische Observatorium voor de Mensenrechten voerden Israëlische gevechtsvliegtuigen meer dan 300 luchtaanvallen uit, waarbij ook doelwitten in Damascus zouden zijn getroffen. Grondtroepen zouden intussen verder het land zijn ingetrokken.

Associated Press reports that in a statement on Tuesday Saudi Arabia condemned Israel’s actions, saying:

The assaults carried out by the Israeli occupation government, including the seizure of the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, and the targeting of Syrian territory confirm Israel’s continued violation of the principles of international law and its determination to sabotage Syria’s chances of restoring its security, stability and territorial integrity.
