1990 eh.Niet echt recent, zeker met het oog op de explosie in analyse technieken die we (de wetenschap) gezien hebben de afgelopen 10 jaar.

Nochtans zijn de argumenten in dat artikel tot op heden geldig. Duesberg is trouwens lang niet de enige wetenschapper die de HIV/AIDS-hypothese verwerpt.

Hetvolgende is een post die ik ooit op een ander forum maakte :

The reason why the virus myth is kept alive, is because the other possibility is just too politically incorrect. Dissident researchers have established the following reasons as most likely causes of AIDS :
- Lack of vital nutrients. This would be the cause of AIDS in Africa
- Severe abuse of certain drugs. This would be the cause of AIDS among junkies as well as homosexuals (drugs mentionned are AZT, heroin and "poppers").

What the public is unaware of, is the fact that AIDS is not just one disease. AIDS is a general name for a collection of ummunodifficient diseases, each with their own symptoms and (according to the dissidents) their own causes. According to the dissident researchers, anyone who has normal heterosexual sex, doesn't use hard drugs and who has sufficient nutrients does not run the risk of getting AIDS. This, of course, shed's a very different light on the disease that the politicall correctness police tries to avoid, as it would decrease sympathy for sufferers of the disease and it would condemn certain lifestyles.

Some important dissidents on the HIV/AIDS issue:

Peter Duesberg



The most important dissident in the AIDS issue is Peter Duesberg. Peter H. Duesberg, Ph.D. is a professor of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Biographical Sketch

He isolated the first cancer gene through his work on retroviruses in 1970, and mapped the genetic structure of these viruses. This, and his subsequent work in the same field, resulted in his election to the National Academy of Sciences in 1986. He is also the recipient of a seven-year Outstanding Investigator Grant from the National Institutes of Health.

On the basis of his experience with retroviruses, Duesberg has challenged the virus-AIDS hypothesis in the pages of such journals as Cancer Research, Lancet, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Science, Nature, Journal of AIDS, AIDS Forschung, Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapeutics, New England Journal of Medicine and Research in Immunology. He has instead proposed the hypothesis that the various American/European AIDS diseases are brought on by the long-term consumption of recreational drugs and/or AZT itself, which is prescribed to prevent or treat AIDS.

Robert Root-Bernstein



Dr. Robert Root-Bernstein, who held a MacArthur Prize fellowship from 1981 to 1986, is associate professor of physiology at Michigan State University. Root-Bernstein, who made like Duesberg a thorough study of the AIDS literature, has published several controversial articles.

He could also not find any evidence to back up the claim that HIV is the cause of AIDS, that AIDS is a new disease, or that it is contagious. AIDS, according to him a multi-causal condition, could also be caused by well known risk factors.

The Perth Group



A group of medical scientists from Perth, Australia, is also questioning HIV and AIDS. The team is headed by Dr. Eleni Papadopulos-Eleopulos, professor of medical physics at Royal Perth Hospital, a teaching hospital at the University of Western Australia. The group studied the AIDS literature too, and was able to publish some of their findings. The research team claims that HIV has never been isolated so far, and questions the existence of the virus-entity.

Other members of the team are: Dr. Valendar Turner, professor of emergency medicine at University of Western Australia, Dr. John Papadimitriou, a practicing pathologist and professor at University of Western Australia's medical school. And Dr. David Causer, senior physicist, head of medical physics, and professor at Royal Perth Hospital.

Gordon Stewart



Dr. Gordon Stewart is professor emeritus of public health at Glasgow University, and a former WHO adviser on AIDS. Professor Stewart studied the epidemiology of AIDS in the U.K. and other countries, and came also to the conclusion that AIDS is not a viral but a multi-causal behavioral disease.

Alfred Hässig



Dr. Alfred Hässig, (1921-1999) was professor emeritus in immunology at the University of Bern, Director of the Swiss Red Cross Transfusion Service, and President of the Board of Trustees of the International Society of Blood Transfusion. With colleagues he formed the Study Group for Nutrition and Immunity. The Swiss research group doesn't believe that HIV causes AIDS either. According to Hässig et al. AIDS is a multi-causal disease caused by severe stress.

Kary Mullis



The inventor of the polymerase chain reaction, a technique used in AIDS tests, Dr. Kary Mullis, 1993 Nobel prize winner, questions HIV and AIDS. He wrote the foreword for Duesberg's book.

Etienne de Harven



Dr. Etienne de Harven is emeritus professor of pathology, University of Toronto. He worked in electron microscopy primarily on the ultrastructure of retroviruses throughout his professional career of 25 years at the Sloan Kettering Institute in New York and 13 years at the University of Toronto.

Joseph Sonnabend



Dr. Joseph Sonnabend, a New York physician and one of the first AIDS researchers, has been questioning the HIV-AIDS hypothesis.

Heinrich Kremer



Dr. Heinrich Kremer was medical director of the Federal Clinics for Juvenile and Young Adult Drug Offenders for five German counties, including Berlin, Bremen, and Hamburg.

En wat leert ons de wetenschappelijke tijdschriften?

Nogmaals, wetenschappelijke tijdschriften negeren gewoonlijk dissidente visies. HIV-AIDS is lang niet het enige geval waar dat zo is.

HIV doet gradueel in de tijd het aantal CD4+ T-cellen afnemen. Hmm.

Wordt HIV niet net gedetecteerd aan de hand van het aantal CD4+ T-cellen? Als ik mij niet vergis, is er tot op heden geen manier om HIV zelf te meten, waardoor het bestaan van HIV op zich door sommige wetenschappers wordt betwijfeld.

De intrede van de combinatietherapie, met nieuwere protease-inhibitoren, stelt de ontwikkeling van AIDS nog langer uit. Met verbetering van de QUALI. Hmm.

Vermits ik niet bekend ben met de werking van die protease-inhibitoren kan ik daar niet verder op ingaan, zoals ik al eerder zei.

In het Westen zijn het de homo's en de druggebruikers, en waar dat niet kan, zwart-afrika, is het malnutritie dat de oorzaak is van AIDS.

Zoals ik al zei : AIDS wordt (volgens de Duesberg-hypothese) veroorzaakt door een tekort aan bepaalde nutriënten of een teveel aan bepaalde toxische stoffen in het lichaam. Dit verklaart waarom specifieke doelgroepen veel sneller geneigd zijn om AIDS te krijgen dan andere, wat door de HIV-AIDS-hypothese niet verklaard wordt. De verspreiding onder de heterosexuele niet-drugsverslaafde bevolking in West-Europa en Noord-Amerika is - in tegenstelling tot de vroegere verwachtingen - volledig uitgebleven, ondanks het feit dat veel promisque mensen vandaag nog steeds onveilig vrijen.
