The National Center for Health Statistics of DHHS of the United States Government compiles statistics on the number of male infant circumcisions performed in hospitals in four regions of the US and in the entire country. The hospital based infant circumcision rate in the United States remains high and continues to remain relatively stable at approximately 60% nationwide. Further, the number of non-hospital based and non-infant circumcisions are, by all estimates, also increasing. When you combine the number of infant hospital based circumcisions with those that are performed after infancy and in physicians offices, the circumcision rate in the United States is most likely unchanged during the last 20 years. You can therefore estimate that 85% of the adult male population is circumcised. While you may have been led to believe the circumcision (of infants, boys and adults) is on the decline in the United States... this is very unlikely true.
