As deputy director for the applied sciences division of the Systems Test and Assessment Directorate, Martinez leads ninety people in three areas: applied environments, warheads, and metrics and measurements. The Pentagon and back. In 1992 Martinez went on temporary assignment as acting assistant director for the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization Test and Evaluation Directorate. He was stationed in the Pentagon near Washington, DC.
