Vergeet het maar. De voedeslwetten in de VS (wat veelal een zaak is op staats- of stedelijk niveau) zijn pakken strikter dan in de meeste Europese landen. Ze zorgen steevast voor grote controverse. Google anders eens 'chicago foie gras ban' (intussen weer opgeheven) en deze wet zit nu in de pijplijn:
"As of September 2007, bills introduced in the U.S. Congress (H.R.503 and S.311), known informally as the "American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act", are being considered by congressional committees.[23] The description of these bills is "To amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes."
