As for the region that Sourians called “the South,” the British established a separate state called Palestine, in preparation for the Zionists to establish their Jewish home. As early as 1919, the British had realized that subduing the south Sourian (i.e. Palestinian) resistance to the Zionist project was simply impossible. Thus, in 1920 a new plan was introduced, to split Palestine into two halves (one on either side of the Jordan river).
