Zwarte Piet zou een andere voorloper hebben al ben ik geen expert, Père Fouettard ("vadertje roe" ofte zwarte piet) zou gestart zijn als een 12de eeuwse blanke moordenaar die later Sint Nikolaas help door de zweep te hanteren en stukken steenkool te geven in plaats van geschenken.

"Zwart als kool" zou daar dus ook een basis kunnen hebben voor onze Zwarte Piet, niet voor Nederland.
