Na nieuwjaar start de reeks 'Messiah' op Netflix waarbij de hoofdrol gespeeld wordt door een Belg van Tunesische afkomst, die toch wel ballen moet hebben om deze rol te aanvaarden.
Zoals ik het zie kan de reeks enkele kanten opgaan, hij is ofwel ...
- de 2de komst van Christus
- een nieuwe profeet sinds Mohammed
- een soort duivel of Djinn
- de valse 'Messiah' (meest waarschijnlijke optie en ook het onderwerp van de Islamitische onvrede)
- fake news
Het toont vooral hoe de huidige wereld zou kunnen reageren op zo'n figuur, Moslims willen er alweer niet van weten en willen een ban wegens anti-Islamitische propaganda. Voordeel is wel dat Netflix niet in cinema's draait maar ergens verwacht ik wel weer Islamitisch rumoer en geweld, zoals gewoonlijk.

Netflix could scarcely have picked a more controversial plot for its latest thriller, about a mysterious religious leader who emerges in the Middle East and is pursued across the globe by the CIA.
“Yes it’s provocative — the show is provocative,” creator Michael Petroni told AFP. “But provocative isn’t offensive.”
“Messiah,” out January 1, imagines how modern society would react if such a figure appeared, spreading his message rapidly via social media in a world grappling with “fake news” and breathless 24-hour bulletins.
