Waarom gaat China naar Mauritius?
Waarom wordt een eiland met 1,2 miljoen inwoners gebombardeerd tot
één van de vijf "economische zones" van China in Afrika?
Zelfs het hoofdkwartier voor de chinese operaties in Afrika.
Waarom?
1. Mauritius wil zichzelf profileren als brug tussen Azië en Afrika. De mauritianen willen het dus zelf graag. Mauritius heeft al heel wat moeite gedaan in die richting: "Mauritius has attracted more than 32,000 offshore entities, many aimed at commerce in India, South Africa, and China."
(*) De minister van financiën van Mauritius over de deal: "It was a beauty contest. Many countries were vying for the project."
2. Mauritius is het meest welvarende land van Afrika
