Tesla milestone: A new record-high VIN has been reported to Bloomberg, exceeding 10,000 for the first time. In fact, we now have three VINs over the 10,000 mark, including two that have exceeded 11,000. We initially held off including one of the 11k VINs because it seemed like an outlier, but now that we have more data from owners, we feel comfortable including it.
Not all VINs are produced sequentially, so this doesn’t mean that Tesla has built more than 10,000 Model 3s. However, our model estimates that line will also be crossed sometime this week.
