Alleen wanneer je met "voorstander" bedoelt: een passieve believer in de WMD-hoax die in die periode werd opgezet door de regering en de media in de VS.

Dat is een wel heel eigenaardige draai van de feiten. En veel details zijn simpelweg niet bekend. De NYT heeft geprobeerd om zo goed mogelijk op een rijtje te zetten wat er echt is gebeurd:

Trump is zelf wel in staat om Tucker Carlson op te bellen.
Onder zijn adviseurs bevond zich op dat moment nog John Bolton, neocon en oorlogshavik bij uitstek, die al jarenlang staat te popelen om Iran aan te vallen.
Trump heeft niet alleen Boltons advies genegeerd maar hem ook nog eens buitengestampt.

Zijn woorden zijn niet consistent. Maar je moet iemand beoordelen op zijn daden.
En op het vlak van militaire invasies is Trump tot nu toe de meest vredelievende president sinds Jimmy Carter.
