Dat is ook een opvatting.
Maar als je toch een onderscheid wil maken in wat minder en meer revolutionaire periodes, is deze tijd wel revolutionair volgens mij.
Het begon eigenlijk met de val van de Muur in 1989. Daarop volgde een serie van revoltes, al dan niet geslaagd, in (voormalige) communistische landen.
Nu is de beurt aan Arabische revoluties.
Een reden hiervoor is waarschijnlijk de toenemende welvaart.

Wanneer mensen onder de armoedegrens leven, zijn ze murw geslagen. Dan revolteren ze niet. Als ze daarentegen welvarender worden, zullen ze naast brood alleen ook vrijheid willen. Dan hebben de dictators hun tijd gehad. De revolutie kan in die situatie elk moment aanvangen.
