comfort-functies, wat gaat onze keuring daarvan zeggen?
Bvb Tesla doet het al jaren, zijn model S/X sneller maken via een update, maar deze keer is er een
stand Chill-mode die de wagen zuiniger-gelijkmatiger laat optrekken dit ook bij electronenplanché, dus duidelijk "trager maken". Wie weet kan dat nut hebben als iemand nog niet gewend is aan dat nekslag-instant-koppel, ook voor de passagiers, of voor stroom te sparen anyway.
Een drietal jaren geleden "speelden ze al met de software", ook de topsnelheid werd duidelijk verhoogd, wslk op vraag van Europese en zeker Duitse klanten.
De laatste jaren was het vooral enkel de accelleratie wat sneller maken door meer max-stroom vrij te geven naar de motoren, voor alle modellen, ook het "huidig basismodel" 75 D, die ondertussen identiek snel geworden is als het oud topmodel Performance P 85 van 2014.
Nu kan bvb de S 100D in Standard-mode zelfs in 3,8 sec optrekken van 0 naar 100 kmh, en in de
Chill-mode dan weer hooguit 7,4 sec. Of tot 60 mph 3,6/7,2 sec. Dit is al de tweede keer dat alle grote Teslas meer piekstroom vrijgeschakeld krijgen, lokmiddel voor wat extra verkoop?

Tesla unlocks even more power in Model S 100D, 0-60 mph now down to 3.6 seconds

Over the last few months, Tesla has been unlocking more power in its non-performance Model S and Model X vehicles. The latest Tesla vehicle to get the treatment is the Model S 100D.
A new test shows that the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph a full half second faster than what Tesla advertises – making the version of the Model S known for its range almost competitive with the performance version.
The news follows the “uncorking” of the power in Tesla’s Model 75D vehicles last month after Tesla introduced new performance enhancements to Model S and Model X vehicles last summer.
The Model S 75D’s 0-60 mph acceleration went down to 4.2 seconds from 5.2 seconds, while Model X’s went from 6.0 seconds down to 4.9 seconds.
Tesla didn’t want to elaborate on the significant acceleration upgrade beyond saying that it is from “software and hardware improvements,” but a new part number for Tesla’s rear-wheel-drive electric motor showed up around the same time – indicating that the performance enhancements might be attributed to a new and improved motor.
The differences for the 100D versions were “officially” less significant. Model S 100D’s acceleration was updated to 4.1 seconds down from 4.2 seconds and Model X 100D went from 5.2 seconds down to 4.7 seconds.
Now, it looks like Tesla is actually underselling the performance of the latest Model S 100D.
DragTimes got a brand new Model S 100D loaner yesterday and tested the 0-60 mph acceleration with much better results:
The car accelerated to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds versus Tesla’s advertised 4.1 seconds.
Interestingly, the car also had the latest software update with ‘Chill mode’, which gives the option to slow down the acceleration of Tesla’s vehicles considerably for those who don’t like the neck-breaking torque.
DragTimes also tested a launch with the Chill mode on and it resulted in a 7.2-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration.

Tesla’s most recent software update adds a unique feature that tames the car’s acceleration. Tesla is calling the new drive mode “Chill,” an appropriate contrast from previously released performance modes called “Insane” and “Ludicrous.”
According to the 2017.44 update notes, Chill mode makes acceleration more gradual and “ideal for smoother driving and a gentler ride for your passengers.”
The software update also added an ‘Easy Entry’ feature that’s designed to make getting in and out of the driver’s seat easier. When you park, the steering wheel and driver’s seat will automatically adjust, then adjust back to the recent driving profile when the driver returns and steps on the brake.
