Ik heb al gezegd: de GVA zijn niet "grens open laten aan hun kant". Het is "mogelijk maken dat de grens daar open blijft aan de twee kanten". De EU regels laten niet toe dat de grens daar open blijft als men aan de overkant de EU regels niet meer volgt. Zij die dus maken dat men aan de overkant de EU regels niet meer volgt, zijn zij die het akkoord opblazen.

Enkel Ierland en de UK zijn onderdeel van het GFA, die moeten elk hun deel van de deal houden. Ierland kan dat makkelijk, de EU zal dan maar ook een grens moeten optrekken. Het is voor beide partijen hetzelfde, een extra grens.
Dit werd onderzocht voor het aanvragen van artikel 50 en was zelfs een voorwaarde om te kunnen vertrekken, de EU moet dus daarover niet lullen.

In order to protect North-South co-operation and avoid controls on the Irish border, the UK agreed to protect the Agreement in all its parts and "in the absence of agreed solutions, the United Kingdom will maintain full alignment with those rules of the Internal Market and the Customs Union which, now or in the future, support North-South cooperation, the all-island economy and the protection of the 1998 Agreement."
