Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that they are now aiming to release “Sentry Mode’ as soon as next week as Tesla vehicles are still heavily targeted by thieves, especially in the Bay Area.
Over the past few months, Tesla vehicles have been subject to a series of break-ins and owners have been trying to find solutions.

Last year, Tesla introduced its over-the-air dashcam feature using an Autopilot camera, but the system has many limitations, like only using the front-facing camera.

Musk has been talking about enabling the use of more Autopilot cameras and a parking mode.

Last month, Musk said that it would be coming soon and started referring to the new 360° dashcam surveillance feature as Tesla’s ‘Sentry Mode’.

The CEO said that a Tesla would be able to detect a robbery, record it, and it would even blast Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, a famous organ piece often used in horror movies, and other audio content.

Tesla break-ins continue to be reported on forums and social on a daily basis and Musk now says that Tesla is going to try to push the new update next week:

Musk also added that it will coincide with the release of ‘Dog Mode’, which is a feature to keep your puppies safe and cool inside Tesla vehicles.

Tesla has already made updates to its software to help with child or pet safety with its Cabin Overheat Protection feature released in 2016.

The automaker described the feature in its v8 software at the time:

“In an industry-first safety measure, we’re also introducing Cabin Overheat Protect, focused on child (and pet) safety. This feature keeps the car at a safe temperature for hours, even when the car is off. This feature is only made possible by an electric vehicle with Tesla’s uniquely large battery packs.”

But now they want to make another mode that would be adapted to dogs in order to leave the climate control on and alert any potential concerned passersby that the dog is safe inside the vehicle.
