Daimler, VW Invest in Choren BTL
Gasification News, October, 2007 by McElligott, Suzanne
German automakers Daimler AG and Volkswagen AG (VW) have each acquired a minority equity position in Freiberg-based Choren Industries GmbH in order to help introduce biomass to liquid (BTL) fuels.
Daimler and VW have been working with Choren since 2002 to evaluate BTL's technical, commercial and environmental impact.
Shell earlier bought a partial stake in Choren, as part of its plans to expand BTL diesel production in Europe and possibly elsewhere. Choren also has applied for U.S. Dept. of Energy grants for a BTL plant in the U.S.
