In 1977 was er nog een Chinees virus, H1N1 dat wereldwijd rondging nadat het Chinese leger toen dat virus uitteste op een paar duizend militaire Chinese vrijwilligers.
Het werd hier bekend als de "russian Flu" maar het was dus ook Chinees van origine.
