Geschiedenis is veel meer dan wat feitelijk is gebeurd. Feiten zijn onderhevig aan perceptie, en perceptie corrumpeert. Geschiedenis is nooit objectief en is geen exacte wetenschap.
Dat is natuurlijk een punt van discussie binnen de historische wetenschap.
