Tesla laat nog eens meer dan 6000 Vins AWD registreren, de bedoeling is nu wel duidelijk. Wie een dure performance AWD besteld krijgt die veel eerder dan een gewone RWD. Zo kan Tesla meer winst maken per wagen op korte termijn.

The latest batch registered today pushed the total of Model 3 VINs registered in less than two weeks in July to over 13,000:

It certainly means that Tesla is preparing to make a major batch of Model 3 Dual Motor/Performance vehicles, but it doesn’t give us a good idea of the timing.

Tesla has a reserve of registered Model 3 VINs.

The highest VIN registered is 69,601, but Tesla is still delivering Model 3 with VINs tens of thousands below that.

But the rate at which Tesla registers more of them is a good indication of what Tesla is about to produce and now it points toward producing a lot of Model 3 vehicles with dual motors.

Tesla has been rapidly moving away from its ‘anti-selling’ of the Model 3 with a new sales commission for its staff when selling the Performance version and moving away from the reservation process.

These moves come after Tesla achieved a production rate of 5,000 Model 3 vehicles in a week, but now the market is looking to see if they can maintain it.

Tesla is now experimenting with this model as some Model 3 buyers are reporting being offered a new ‘Sign and Drive’ pick up appointments that can get them in and out in 5 minutes.

The automaker describes the process in an email to customers:

Het is nu officieel (wat we vermoedden), Tesla heeft tot 1 juli gewacht om zijn 200.000 wagen in de USA uit te leveren, daardoor halveert de federale premie van $ 7,5k uit in stappen per 2 volgende semesters vanaf 1 jan 2019, 1 jan 2020 = einde:

A Tesla spokesperson confirmed that they have hit the 200,000th delivery threshold this month.

Tesla has become the first automaker to reach the threshold and trigger the phase-out period. GM and Nissan are not too far behind however.

Even though it’s exactly what we expected, I am glad that Tesla is finally confirming it because that’s something that is affecting the buying decision of many people in the US.

This is especially true when it comes to waiting for other Model 3 configurations vs. getting one that is available this year.

The best example is a Model 3 reservation holder waiting for a Model 3 with standard battery pack who might not want to pay $9,000 for the Long Range pack, but they could reconsider it if it means losing $3,750 in tax credit.

I am not necessarily saying that people waiting for the standard battery pack won’t have access to the full tax credit, but it looks extremely unlikely at this point with Tesla’s “6-9 months” delivery window.

Een Tesla model 3 heel vroeg te reserveren (best in 2016) heeft dus ook een extra financieel voordeel. De echt gelukkigen zullen zijn die nog voor einde 2018 hun Tesla krijgen. Deze federale premie geldt voor alle E-wagens. Maar eens een constructeur 200k geleverd heeft in de USA start the phase-out period voor dat merk. Voor GM en Nissan gaat dat binnenkort ook gebeuren.

The former Tesla employee who was fired and then sued by the electric vehicle automaker has filed a formal whistleblower tip to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleging the company has misled investors and put its customers at risk.

Martin Tripp has retained Meissner Associates, a whistleblower, securities, investment fraud and employment law firm to represent him before the SEC. Tesla did not respond to questions about the whistleblower tip.

The automaker investor relation team held a meeting with investors and analysts this week and the company reportedly disclosed that they are now aiming for a production rate of 7,000 per week by the end of the year and 10,000 per week by mid-2019.

Tesla reported to still having about 420,000 Model 3 reservations at the end of last month and originally planned to be at 10,000 units per week by the end of 2018.

I was dismayed to learn this weekend about a Tesla employee who had conducted quite extensive and damaging sabotage to our operations. This included making direct code changes to the Tesla Manufacturing Operating System under false usernames and exporting large amounts of highly sensitive Tesla data to unknown third parties.

The full extent of his actions are not yet clear, but what he has admitted to so far is pretty bad. His stated motivation is that he wanted a promotion that he did not receive. In light of these actions, not promoting him was definitely the right move.

However, there may be considerably more to this situation than meets the eye, so the investigation will continue in depth this week. We need to figure out if he was acting alone or with others at Tesla and if he was working with any outside organizations.

Die falcon heavy lancering was voor mij het toppunt van dit jaar.

De specs van dat ding zijn gestoord voor die prijs. De SLS gaat enkel beter doen...tegen 1.5miljard per lancering.

En de kans is groot dat als de BFR klaar is (2021) hij alweer vrede moet nemen met de tweede plaats. De berekeningen die ik gedaan heb op de BFR zijn gestoord: de spaceship die er op zit heeft genoeg deltaV om zelf in earth orbit te geraken, single stage.....
