Problem is, the Tesla phone app auto-checks the acceleration upgrade option every time I open it. I uncheck it, close the app, then reopen and that option is checked again.

Tesla; STOP THE AUTO CHECK OF EXPENSIVE OPTIONS. TESLA IS BETTER THAN THIS!

Nu zullen ze het wel bij Tesla gehoord hebben...

It’s not the first time that Tesla had customer service issues, and it certainly won’t be the last.

I agree with Taleb, though. It’s not just a customer service issue, but also a flaw in the app that you can make such large purchases without confirmation.

When you get a surprise $9,700 charge on your credit card, it’s not a fun day.

Hopefully, everyone affected can quickly get a refund now that Elon has commented on it on Twitter, which seems to be the main customer service arm at Tesla these days.

This petition is completely false and was brought by a Tesla short-seller. We investigate every single incident where the driver alleges to us that their vehicle accelerated contrary to their input, and in every case where we had the vehicle's data, we confirmed that the car operated as designed. In other words, the car accelerates if, and only if, the driver told it to do so, and it slows or stops when the driver applies the brake.

While accidents caused by a mistaken press of the accelerator pedal have been alleged for nearly every make/model of vehicle on the road, the accelerator pedals in Model S, X and 3 vehicles have two independent position sensors, and if there is any error, the system defaults to cut off motor torque. Likewise, applying the brake pedal simultaneously with the accelerator pedal will override the accelerator pedal input and cut off motor torque, and regardless of the torque, sustained braking will stop the car. Unique to Tesla, we also use the Autopilot sensor suite to help distinguish potential pedal misapplications and cut torque to mitigate or prevent accidents when we’re confident the driver’s input was unintentional. Each system is independent and records data, so we can examine exactly what happened.

We are transparent with NHTSA, and routinely review customer complaints of unintended acceleration with them. Over the past several years, we discussed with NHTSA the majority of the complaints alleged in the petition. In every case we reviewed with them, the data proved the vehicle functioned properly.

For Tesla to achieve a $US100 billion market value, its stock must climb to $US554.80, based on the current number of shares outstanding.

But it's not a one-day event: the terms of Musk's award require that both the six-month trailing share price average, as well as the 30-day trailing average, exceed that figure before the first tranche of options is released.

The tranche consists of 1.69 million options that would net Musk around $US346 million if he exercised them and sold the shares immediately at the threshold share price, which could be a welcome payday for a billionaire who told a jury last month that he's short on cash.

However, that's an unlikely scenario. He hasn't sold a single share of Tesla for years, apart from unloading $US593 million of stock in 2016 to pay income taxes.

Tesla heeft dinsdag nabeurs een beurswaarde van 100 miljard dollar (90,2 miljard euro) bereikt. De 100 miljard-grens is een belangrijke voor Tesla-topman Elon Musk, er is namelijk een bonus aan verbonden van ongeveer 350 miljoen dollar.

Aan de gigabonus voor de topman van Tesla zijn wel wat voorwaarden verbonden. Zo moet Tesla de waarde van 100 miljard dollar eerst één en dan zes maanden gemiddeld genomen vasthouden.

De beurskoers van het bedrijf is al maanden bezig aan een opmars: sinds midden oktober is de beurskoers meer dan verdubbeld. Waar een aandeel Tesla op 23 oktober nog 254 dollar kostte, was dat dinsdag na de 547 dollar, een stijging van ruim 115 procent.
