Skoda launches all-electric car for less than $20,000

Skoda Citigo iV Specs

In a press release, Skoda describes the vehicle’s powertrain:

“As the first SKODA production vehicle, the four-seater city car is powered exclusively by a 61 kW electric motor. This means the CITIGOe iV is powered not only purely by a battery, but also without generating any emissions. The 36.8 kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a range of up to 265 km in the WLTP cycle – meaning the CITIGOe iV is perfectly equipped for traffic in modern cities.”

265 km (165 miles) on the WLTP cycle is expected to result in roughly 200 km (125 miles) of real-world range.

The charging capacity is limited to 40 kW on a DC fast charger and it’s equipped with a 7.2 kW onboard charger.

Skoda Citigo iV Design
As for the design, it features a fairly standard city car design with 4 doors and a hatch.

It’s both Skoda’s first electric car and the smallest vehicle in its lineup with dimensions of just 3,597 mm long and 1,645 mm wide.

The boot offers a capacity of 250 l, which can be increased to 923 l by folding down the rear seats.

Citaat:
https://electrek.co/2019/05/24/bmw-t...-shareholders/

Tesla’s electric vehicle lead is worrisome to some competitors and laughable to others, but BMW shareholders are now putting some pressure on the automaker.
German shareholder association Vice President Daniela Bergdolt said in a speech at BMW’s recent annual shareholder’s meeting (via Auto News Europe):

“Where is this model offensive? Sure, you’ve got the iNEXT, but I was expecting something that blows Tesla out of the water.”

The comment was reportedly received by loud applause from BMW shareholders.

On top of it, BMW’s board is reportedly considering replacing CEO Harald Krüger due to his role in the company’s slow rollout of more electric vehicle options.

At the company’s Annual General Meeting in Munich earlier this month, Krüger reiterated the automaker’s commitment to e-mobility, but he still focuses on plug-in hybrids.

The premium automakers also have been threatened by the growth of Tesla. At BMW’s recent annual shareholders meeting, CEO Kreuger was criticized for his caution when expanding BMW’s electric-car range.

Tesla Model X gets turned into ‘police patrol car of the future’, Tesla is working to integrate police features

- Jun. 3rd 2019

The Victoria police in Australia are deploying a new Tesla Model X as part of their fleet and they see the electric vehicle as “the future of road policing.”

Tesla is reportedly working with the police department to integrate features into the main screen.
Earlier today, the Victoria Police Department announced that they are deploying the first electric police vehicle in Australia.

They wrote in a press release:

“Today we are excited to have taken the first steps in what could be the biggest development in police vehicles since their introduction almost 100 years ago, becoming one of the first jurisdictions in the world to put an all-electric vehicle into its operational fleet.”

Victoria Police said that they purchased a Tesla Model X “as part of a feasibility study into developing fully integrated electric, IT-based police vehicles for fleet use.”

The Victoria Police Department indicated that they are working directly with Tesla engineers:

“This project will see Victoria Police work with Tesla engineers, emergency equipment manufacturers, the department’s vehicle installation contractor and Victoria Police’s IT and communications technicians in fitting equipment and integrating police software into the vehicle’s on-board system.”

Stuart Bailey, Inspector State Highway Patrol, said that they will run “their mobile data terminal” on the Tesla main screen.

They also plan to be able to play videos from their body cameras directly on the giant touchscreen.

Bailey said that the Tesla Model X is “the future” of police vehicles and that he could see all of their patrol vehicles being electric within the next 10 years.

Here’s a video of an interview with Bailey inside the new Model X police vehicle:

Citaat:
https://electrek.co/2019/06/08/rivia...-truck-camper/

Rivian is differentiating itself from the upcoming competition by designing and marketing the R1T as an “adventure vehicle”.

With a battery pack configuration of up to 180 kWh, the pickup can have a range of up to 400 miles, which can really enable some adventures.

Furthermore, they have been working on some modular box systems to offer many different options for owners to find different use cases for the electric pickup truck.

Rivian R1T Electric Pickup Truck Camper Mode
One of those possible configurations can result in a zero-emission camper version of the R1T electric pickup truck.

Rivian unveiled it at the Overland Expo last month and it has since sent out staff members on a camping trip in Arizona (via Twitter) to showcase the camper configuration of the vehicle.

Here’s the R1T electric pickup truck geared up with the camping equipment:
