VW staat wslk het verste van alle Europese constructeurs, ook qua batterijfabrieken en (geplande) investeringen (30 miljard € minimum).
Diess verwacht 20% afbouw van zijn productiepersoneel.
Maar bij de toeleveranciers zal dat meer zijn.

VW staat nu eigenlijk daar waar Tesla in ~2013 stond.

Everybody who believes he has no illusions does actually harbor illusions, and that includes me. Unfortunately, it was not an illusion when I predicted in my articles last year that German automakers are not able to manufacture a car like a Tesla — otherwise, we would have seen it already. Such a vehicle is yet to arrive, and that’s not an illusion.

The latest efficiency tests of the Audi e-tron compared against others, as well as the released specifications of the Daimler EQE, confirm my darkest nightmares about the abilities of the highly praised German engineering world with respect to battery technology and all that belongs to it.

Some illusionists in the German auto industry not only risk their own jobs and companies, but also risk the economic welfare of Germany — in irresponsible and dangerous ways. That’s the only reason why I feel it to be my duty to write this article, others before it, and maybe a few more.

A few months after unveiling their new e-208 electric hatch, Peugeot has already added the car to their configurator in Germany.

The lowest option level available is €30,450 for the base “Active” trim (incl. 19% VAT). Germany has a €4,000 EV incentive, so that translates to €26,450 after incentives.

Peugeot opened reservations for the e-208 in several European countries a few months ago, but this is the first configurator we’ve seen for the car, complete with prices and various option levels.

This price is a fair bit more than the diesel version’s €19,850 starting price. The gas (“benzin”) version is also cheaper, coming in at €16,600 for the same “Active” trim level. But then again, the electric version does have better performance than any of the fossil-powered models.

And compared to other EVs it seems to be quite a good price. The base Nissan Leaf with a 40kWh battery is €36,800 in Germany. The e-208 has a larger 50kWh battery, but costs over €6k less than the most-sold electric car model in Europe. It’s not quite a fair comparison because the Leaf is a larger car, but this does mean a lower cost entry point for what seems to be a capable little EV. One would think that this would help adoption.

The Ford Mustang is going electric and it’s not even Ford making it. A sleek-looking Mustang with a Tesla-inspired interior is going to debut in Goodwood next month.
UK-based startup Charge is behind the vehicle, which is not a conversation.

They are using officially licensed shells of both Fastback and Convertible 1960’s Mustangs and building the electric vehicle around the bodies.

We reported on them last year when they released the first images and announced the specs.

The powertrain includes a 64 kWh battery pack, a 300 kW electric motor, and DC fast-charging system supporting a 50 kW charge rate.

Charge says that it can be configured for rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and it can deliver up to 7,500 Nm of wheel torque and 1,200 Nm of motor torque.

0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration can be achieved in just 3.09 seconds.

While 64 kWh is a significant energy capacity for the size of the vehicle, the range is only expected to be 200 km (125 miles) – probably due to the aerodynamic performance of that old muscle car design.

But they also embraced the fact that this is a modern all-electric vehicle and not a conversion, which means that it comes with a lot of technology.

The interior appears to have been inspired by Tesla’s Model S interior with the large vertical screen:



When announcing the electric Charge Mustang last year, the startup said that it planned to make only 499 units and they would cost £200,000 ($254,000 USD).

Now they are listing a price of £300,000 ($381,000 USD) on their website.

The prototype will be displayed for the first time at the Michelin Supercar Paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK during the first week of July.

Het bedrijf stond al op de rand van faillissement in 2017, maar nieuwe investeerders gaven hoop in 2018, met de komst van een productiemodel in het kielzog daarvan. Mis! Er is nog niets verschenen en de schulden stapelen zich op. Het merk heeft ook een contract voor overbruggingsfinanciering van tientallen miljoenen dollars afgesloten met Birch Lake Associates in Chicago. Dat bedrijf is actief in de herstructurering of faillissementen van bedrijven. Dat is niet echt geruststellend…

John Schilling, Faraday Future’s spokesperson, confirmed the cuts and Risher’s departure in an email to The Verge. “Most” of the hundreds of workers who were on furlough had already “left on their own,” Schilling said, but the company made new cuts over the last few days. He said some workers still remain on furlough, but wouldn’t say how many. “I cannot share the exact number of furloughed workers we let go nor their roles at this time but the company still retains over 350 active workers in the US,” he wrote. Faraday Future had employed around 1,000 workers in the US in the middle of 2018.

Tesla is good at creating hype without advertising and the Tesla Pickup truck is no exception as it overtakes the Ford F150 as the most talked about pickup truck in the US.
We have been talking about Tesla making a pickup truck for a long time, but things have intensified over the last year.

Tesla’s CEO has sought suggestions for features to add to the Tesla truck under development and he revealed some planned features, like an option for 400 to 500 miles of range, Dual Motor all-wheel drive powertrain with dynamic suspension, as well as ‘300,000 lbs of towing capacity’.

The automaker also released a teaser image of the Tesla pickup truck, which they plan to fully unveil later this year.

More recently, Musk even said that the Tesla Pickup truck will cost less than $50,000 and ‘be better than a Ford F150’.

The Ford F150 is currently the best-selling pickup truck in the US and it was also the most talked-about until now.

AutoWise looked into geotagged Twitter data of over 100,000 tweets and found that the Tesla Pickup is now a more popular subject than the F150:

“The Ford F-150 is currently the most popular truck in every state, but when put up against the upcoming Tesla pickup truck… it is defeated at a count of 26 states to 24. With most of the Tesla support coming from the West Coast and Upper East coast. The south holds all the support for the Ford F-150.”

As explained by Curtiss Designer Jordan Cornille:

“With the battery cells packaged inside eight cylindrical towers configured in a flaring radial ‘V’ pattern, we’re not only able to tap into Glenn’s iconic V8 form language, but we’re also able to achieve maximum battery cooling efficiency. In this case, there exists no compromise between form and function.”

Those eight cylinders hold 16.8 kWh of battery, which is more capacity than most other electric motorcycles. Without accessory or add-on packs, Zero’s largest battery currently tips the scales at 14.4 kWh.


Of course with 217 hp (160 kW) of motor power, the Zeus electric motorcycle will need all the battery capacity it can get. For comparison, Zero’s latest SR/F electric streetfighter has only half the motor power of the 2020 Zeus V8 electric motorcycle.

Curtiss was originally using motors from Zero in a dual motor setup on the Zeus, but ultimately switched to a proprietary Yasa P400 R series motor.

Ik heb op onze reis ....veel laadstations van Tesla ( en er zijn al meer en meer = heel positief ) volledig leeg zien staan = negatief

-tesla's ( van Zwitsers ) op de hellingen abnormaal traag zien rijden.

-die Tesla's nooit vooraan zien rijden maar altijd achter een vrachtwagen .

-en als je dan teken deed naar de bestuurder van en iets mis dat die zijn duim naar beneden stak ....van niet tevreden .

Ik heb er geen één achter mijn zien komen of me zien voorbij rijden .

Om het nog wat te verzachten de Toyota's hybride rijden ook niet door .

Wie me wel een positieve indruk naliet waren de Hybrides van Hyundai ...die reden overal nogal vlot ( denk dat die in de startblokken staan )
