Door dik en dun: de VS steun aan Israel

Vaak wordt in Europa de steun van de VS voor Israel verklaard door simplistische argumenten die we allemaal al zo vaak hebben gehoord: de Joden controleren het internationale kapitaal, de pro-zionistische kabaal in het Witte Huis, etc... Wie echter geinteresseerd is in de echte redenen voor die diepe vrienschap en steun kan zich best op de overweldigende steun van de Evangelische Christelijke gemeenschap in de VS richten. Er zijn ongeveer 60 miljoen Evangelische Christenen in de VS voor wie het belangrijkste thema de sterke steun en vriendschap met Israel is. [Een andere interessante topic is uiteraard of men een gelijkaardige ontwikkeling ziet in Europa, maar dan wel voor een onvoorwaardelijke pro-Arabische steun]

SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL DRIVES EVANGELICAL VOTE, POLL FINDS

Oct. 6, 2004 -- Support for Israel is a decisive factor in evangelical Christians’ choice between President Bush and Senator Kerry in the upcoming presidential election, according to a poll conducted Sept. 27-Oct.4 by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.

Responding to the email and website-based survey, 31 percent of 1,875 self-described evangelicals who claimed they were “very likely” to vote in November called support for Israel their No. 1 consideration in selecting a president, and 64 percent called support for Israel “an important factor” in that choice. Nearly 98 percent of that group indicated they plan to vote for Bush, whereas 2 percent indicated support for Kerry.

Of 147 “very likely” Jewish voters, 32 percent said support for Israel was the No. 1 concern driving their presidential selection, and 59 percent called support for Israel “an important factor.” However, concern for Israel among this group did not translate into universal support for Bush, who was favored by 73 percent of Jewish respondents, with 27 percent supporting Kerry.

On related issues, 97 percent of evangelicals and 73 percent of Jews saw Bush as a better friend of Israel, compared with 2 percent of evangelicals and 10 percent of Jews who saw Kerry’s election as better for the Jewish State. Similarly, 97 percent of evangelicals and 74 percent of Jews saw Bush as the candidate better able to protect the United States, whereas 16 percent of Jews saw Kerry as stronger in this role.

“It is reassuring to once again confirm the rock-solid support of evangelical Christians for Israel and its security,” said Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, president and CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. “Given the vast millions of evangelicals in the United States, compared with only 5.2 million Jews, it is not exaggerating to say that evangelical support, as much or more than Jewish advocacy, keeps our country and our legislators focused on Israel’s plight and on its role as our most loyal ally.

“Because The Fellowship supports humanitarian programs that help Israelis, with a strong focus on victims of terror, I am not surprised that our survey respondents are concerned with Israel’s welfare – but I am gratified by the strength of that concern.”

In terms of party affiliation, 82 percent of evangelical respondents said they were Republicans, with 10 percent identifying as independent, 5 percent as Democrats and 3 percent as other. Fifty percent of Jewish respondents identified as Republicans, with 27 percent Democratic, 22 percent Independent and 3 percent other.

Note on survey validity: Confidence in the validity of the survey is computed using the Chi-square statistic. This consistently gives us confidence that our results will be replicated under the same conditions at least 95 out of 100 times.

Interessante topic. Maar om pro-arabisch te zijn moeten ze wel ballen hebben. En het is ook beetje ingewikkeld want de arabieren vormen in sommige EU landen de probleemgevallen enz.. Maar dat wil niet zeggen dat ze de arabieren ginder niet moeten helpen. Op politiek vlak is het een kans dat EU heeft. Als ze tegen alles wat JewSa voorstelt gewoon maar knikken zullen ze toch niet meer dan Economische Unie betekenen. Wilt europa een wereldmacht worden moeten ze JewSA (USA) ook attent maken dat er ook arabieren zijn in die gebieden. Het moet geen oorlog vormen tussen beiden maar gewoon, beiden moeten hun pion kiezen.

ps; anti-semitisme (tegen israël) groeit overal in de wereld. Zelfs bij mij. Ik bewonderde de joden vroeger. Dat ze de wereld rond hun vingers draaiden, een kleine minderheid oefent druk op alle grote machten inclusief EU, Rusland en JewSA (Usa).

Maar nu besef ik wel beter dat zionisme een pest is. Al die oorlog (iraq&afghanistan misschien later syrie,.....) komt omdat de rotzooien hun niet veilig voelen. OMdat de perversen in hun luxe gebouw zich gedreigd voelen vallen er duizenden doden. Israel is één van de grootste militaire macht. Ze verkopen alleen maar machines om meer mensen te vermoorden, hun doel is gewoon niet-joden laten crepperen. Die voelen zich superieur tegen IEDEREEN MAAR IEDEREEEN!!!

Veel groter dan de mensen het kunnen voorstellen.
