Goed nieuws! De EU zal Syrische olie rechtstreeks bij de producent, Al-Qaeda/Al-Nusra kopen. Eindelijk zullen de 'rebellen' over meer inkomsten beschikken en kan de beweging op een effectieve wijze gefinancierd worden. Men hoopt dat dankzij deze beslissing de 'vrijheidsstrijders' krachtiger zullen kunnen optreden tegen de duivelse Assad.

In Deir al-Zor heeft Jabhat al-Nusra reeds op 30 november 2012 het Al-Ward olieveld veroverd. Ook in al-Hasaka is dat het geval.

According to a report yesterday in Britain’s Guardian newspaper, the European Union (EU) is directly funding US-backed Sunni Islamist terrorist groups fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. These groups are looting oil in parts of eastern Syria that they control and then re-selling it to EU countries at rock-bottom prices.

The Guardian writes:

“The EU decision to lift Syrian oil sanctions to aid the opposition has accelerated a scramble for control over wells and pipelines in rebel-held areas and helped consolidate the grip of jihadist groups over the country’s key resources.”

According to the Guardian, the main beneficiaries of the EU’s lifting of sanctions are the Al Nusra Front and similar Islamist terrorist groups. “Jabhat al-Nusra, affiliated with Al Qaeda and other extreme Islamist groups, control the majority of the oil wells in Deir Ezzor province, displacing local Sunni tribes, sometimes by force. They have also seized control of other fields from Kurdish groups further to the north-east, in al-Hasakah governorate.”

The EU’s decision to resume trade with oil fields held by Al Nusra explodes the lie that the imperialist powers are waging war in Syria to change the repressive character of the Syrian regime. In fact, they are building up and backing deeply reactionary and oppressive forces.

These events also expose the so-called “war on terror”—the claim that Washington and the EU are fighting Al Qaeda, which served as the justification for US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan—as a lie. Imperialism is arming and financing Al Qaeda-linked terrorist groups that commit terrible crimes against the Syrian population, handing over its wealth to the EU and Washington.

Germany’s Spiegel Online magazine recently reported how the Islamists dump Syrian oil on world markets at ultra-low prices: “Since February the Islamist rebel group Liwa al-Islam has controlled the al-Thaura oil-field in the ar-Raqqah governorate… The rebels in al-Thaura sell ten fuel truck cargos each day. They make good money and charge around $13 US for a barrel. On the world market, however, a barrel is traded for $100 US, but this is not of particular interest here.”

Abu Saif, an Islamist fighter of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Ahrar Brigade, gives another account of how Islamists militias loot Syria: “Jabhat al-Nusra is investing in the Syrian economy to reinforce its position in Syria and Iraq. Al-Nusra fighters are selling everything that falls into their hands from wheat, archaeological relics, factory eq uipment, oil drilling and imaging machines, cars, spare parts and crude oil.”

To secure the oil, the terrorists murder everyone who gets in their way. In one widely reported case, Al Nusra fighters levelled the village of al-Musareb near Deir Ezzor, murdering 50 of its residents after a conflict with local tribesmen over an oil tanker. The mass killings through which terrorist groups control the territory needed to supply oil to European imperialism are documented in videos posted on YouTube.

The imperialist powers rely on terrorist groups as part of their strategy to control the vast energy resources of the Middle East and Central Asia. This fundamental interest underlies the wars against Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, and on-going war preparations against Shiite Iran—to which the Alawite-dominated Assad regime has close ties. Like Syria, Iran has long been on imperialism’s hit list,” since Washington and its European and Middle Eastern allies see it as one of the main obstacles to controlling the oil trade of the Persian Gulf, and thus of the entire world.

This rape of Syria exposes the cynical decision by middle class pseudo-left organizations—such as the International Socialist Organization (ISO), the German Left Party, the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA) in France, and the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) in Britain—to package the Syrian war as a “revolution.” Their class position emerges clearly in this point: they hail the looting of Syrian oil to boost the oil corporations’ profit margins as a “revolution,” and the looters as “revolutionaries.”

De EU wil olie kopen om het FSA te steunen. Of dat een goed plan is kan je bediscussiëren maar de EU zal geen olie kopen van Al-Nusra. Dat is evident.

Het SNC noch het FSA kan deze verwijderen, vele FSA-strijdkrachten zijn trouwens reeds overgelopen naar AQ, anderen hebben het FSA simpelweg verlaten, de resterende 'opposanten' vechten onder elkaar en tegen AQ, het FSA is volledig gedecimeerd.

Men kan trouwens AQ niet verwijderen, waar zij aan de macht zijn controleren ze tevens de bakkerijen en alle andere belangrijke onderdelen van de voedselketen.

De bedoelingen van de EU zijn dan ook opnieuw overduidelijk, geen olie uit Syrie zonder samenwerkening met de woestijnratten van AQ/al-Nusra.

Enkel Assad kan het land van dit tuig verlossen...

En nog dit ter zijde: ik heb hier moeten vermelden dat de essentiele voorwaarde voor verkoop toestemming van de National Coalition was. Het is tekenend voor de oneerlijkheid van het artikel in Landdestroyer of dat van Global Research dat ze dat gewoon niet vermelden. Je hebt het recht te twijfelen of de EU op haar woord moet geloofd worden. Maar het is alijd tekenend voor de zwakheid en oneerlijkheid van een redenering als men het nodig vindt essentiële informatie te verzwijgen voor de lezer. Dan weet je dat je met propaganda te maken hebt. Dat wordt des te meer duidelijk als men zelfs manifest liegt: "The EU is openly preparing to do business directly with Al Qaeda, ..." En daar blijft jij steeds je "informatie" halen.

Assad could also have talked about - what else - Pipelineistan. It would have taken him two minutes to explain the meaning of the agreement for the US$10 billion Iran-Iraq-Syria gas pipeline that was signed in July 2012. This crucial Pipelineistan node will export gas from the South Pars field in Iran (the largest in the world, shared with Qatar), through Iraq, towards Syria, with a possible extension to Lebanon, with certified customers in Western Europe. It's what the Chinese call a "win-win" situation.

But not for - guess who? - Qatar and Turkey. Qatar dreams of a rival pipeline from its North field (contiguous with Iran's South Pars field), through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria and finally Turkey (which bills itself as the privileged energy transit hub between East and West). Final destination: once again, Western Europe.

As in all Pipelineistan matters, the crux of the game is bypassing both Iran and Russia. That's what happens with the Qatari pipeline - frantically US-supported. But with the Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline, the export route may originate nowhere else than in Tartus, the Syrian port in the Eastern Mediterranean that hosts the Russian navy. Gazprom would obviously be part of the whole picture, from investment to distribution.

Make no mistake; Pipelineistan - once again tied up with bypassing both Russia and Iran - explains a great deal about why Syria is being destroyed.

The EU oil-for-al-Qaeda scheme
Meanwhile, the real Syrian army - backed by Hezbollah - is methodically retaking strategic Al-Qusayr out of "rebel" control. Their next step would be to look east - where Jabhat al-Nusra is merrily profiting from another typical EU blunder; the decision to lift oil sanctions on Syria. [3]

Syria Comment blogger Joshua Landis drew the necessary conclusions; "Whoever gets their hands on the oil, water and agriculture, holds Sunni Syria by the throat. At the moment, that's al-Nusra. Europe opening up the market for oil forced this issue. So the logical conclusion from this craziness is that Europe will be funding al-Qaeda." Call it the EU oil-for-al-Qaeda scheme.

Southwest Asia - what the West calls the Middle East - is bound to remain a privileged realm of irrationality at play. As things stand in Syria, instead of a no-fly zone what should really fly is an "all fly peace" - with everyone and his neighbor involved; US, Russia, the EU, but also Hezbollah, Israel and of course Iran, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has keenly stressed. Way beyond the Western obsession with regime change, what the already troubled Geneva conference could yield is a deal following the Syrian constitution - which, by the way, is absolutely legitimate, adopted in 2012 by a majority of votes of the real, suffering, "Syrian people". This could even lead to Assad not running for president in elections scheduled for 2014. Regime change, yes. But by peaceful means. Will NATO-GCC-Israel let it happen? No.

Eerder vroeg dan laat zullen de regimetroepen de terroristen uit de olievelden verwijderen. Tot daar de EU-plannen.

Maar het is alijd tekenend voor de zwakheid en oneerlijkheid van een redenering als men het nodig vindt essentiële informatie te verzwijgen voor de lezer. Dan weet je dat je met propaganda te maken hebt. Dat wordt des te meer duidelijk als men zelfs manifest liegt: "The EU is openly preparing to do business directly with Al Qaeda, ..." En daar blijft jij steeds je "informatie" halen.

U wilt het niet begrijpen. Waar gaat het SNC vrdmme olie halen als deze in handen is van AQ, begrijpt U dat nu echt niet? Het SNC heeft reeds lang heimelijk samen met AQ tegen Assad gestreden. Ook daarvan is de EU op de hoogte. De EU laat het SNC voor hun het vuile werk doen, maar toch zijn de handen van de EU met bloed besmeurd, laat dat voor de zoveelste keer duidelijk zijn.

Wie gaat nu het SNC en het westen nog betrouwen na al de leugens (nl. vergaande samenwerking met AQ)? Juist, enkel mensen afkomstig uit hetzelfde kamp als Uzelf.

De informatie van Land Destroyer is meestal juist en zeker in dit geval.

U kan wel beweren dat de EU uiteindelijk geen olie van AQ zal kopen, maar de beslissing van de EU heeft nu reeds gevolgen, waarvan AQ profiteert.

Nogmaals, enkel AQ kan weerstand bieden tegen Assad. AQ zal de olievelden bezetten tot Assad ze opnieuw verwijdert. Het FSA noch SNC zal daar ooit rechtstreeks een vinger in de smurrie hebben, dat is duidelijk.

De plannen van de EU zijn dus ronduit idioot en simpelweg een zoveelste paniekerige reactie op de overwinningen van Assad, AQ moet dus gesteund worden, hoe dan ook.

De EU en het westen hebben dan ook in Syrie en elders nooit hun eigen (zelfopgelegde) regels gerespecteerd, waarvan akte. Waarom zou het nu anders gebeuren? Het gaat trouwens nog steeds over AQ, Syrie, Assad, de door het westen aangestelde leugenaars van het SNC, het westen en de EU.

SAME DEAL dus : een megakwakkel...

BTW : Vergeet niet dat samenwerking en het steunen van terroristen een misdaad is. AQ, al-Nusra staan weldegelijk op de lijst. Maar sommigen mogen het blijkbaar wel. Eigen regelgeving overtreden, daar zijn ze goed in.

The answer in Raqqa is that the oil fields are now al-Qaeda property, with the group’s Syrian faction Jabhat al-Nusra running the show, keeping the crude flowing, selling it off to the mini-refineries cropping up around the area, and pocketing the profits.

When the government abandoned the oilfields, rebels of many different stripes moved in. But they fought each other too, and increasingly, the whole region is under Nusra control, as indeed much of Syria is.

And while the international community continues to insist it opposes Nusra in favor of more moderate rebels, the plans by the EU to start buying oil in deals approved by the SNC are already in motion. The SNC, itself Islamist in nature, will likely get a cut for approving the deals, but so long as the fields are dominated by al-Qaeda fighters, they will be getting the lion’s share of the money.

Het door het westen in leven geroepen en door het westen gecontroleerde SNC zal sowieso olie van AQ verpatsen, daar bestaan geen twijfels over.

De EU zal via hun eigen organisatie genaamd SNC, olie van AQ kopen.

Syria has condemned the recent decision by the European Union to ease oil sanctions imposed on the Arab state in order to assist foreign-backed militants fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

In a letter sent to the UN Security Council on Tuesday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said the EU’s move to allow the importation of Syrian oil and its derivatives and investment in the Syrian oil industry through exclusive transactions with the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC) violates the principle of non-interference in the country’s domestic affairs.

The letter called the EU decision "an unprecedented step" and said the EU was involved in a "political and economic campaign" targeting the country's economy.

"Neither the EU nor any other party has the right to take any measures that would affect the state's sovereign rights over [its] national resources," the Syrian Foreign Ministry added.

The EU countries "have gone even beyond that to allow the possibility of investing these resources in favor of one group that claims to be an opposition and represent the Syrian people while it actually represents no one [but] its masters and their interests that are connected to foreign sides," the letter noted.

"Syria demands that the UN Security Council take necessary measures to prevent the implementation of this illegitimate decision that [runs contrary to] the rules of international law and the UN Charter," the Syrian Foreign Ministry stated.

The letter also said that "Syria will [exercise] its natural right to take the necessary measures to maintain its sovereignty over its natural resources in the face of the attempts [at] piracy and looting."

On Monday, the EU Council eased certain sanctions, including the oil embargo, which had been imposed on Syria. It said the move was designed to help and support the Syrian opposition.

Zonder twijfel zal het Syrische regime de nodige maatregelen nemen, dan kan het westen nogmaals zanikken over vrouwen en babylijkjes in de olieputten...

MALEKIYYAH, Al-HASSAKAH PROVINCE, Syria -- The province of Hassakah is the Syrian oil tank. Before the revolution, its 170,000 barrels per day accounted for more than half of the country's oil production, thus representing the backbone of those oil exports covering a third of national export revenues. Syrian oil engineers working in the province told Al-Monitor that the Democratic Union Party (PYD) -- affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) -- currently controls around 60% of the oil fields, leaving the remaining 40% in the hands of several factions of the Arab opposition. Since the conflict engulfed the route of the pipelines to the refineries, however, the drills have stopped working.

Despite such a fragmented context, the European Union on April 22 decided to lift the oil embargo on liberated regions in Syria in an attempt to support the opposition. The move, though, is likely to stir up Kurdish-Arab strife and catalyze regime raids on a region that has largely remained immune to the conflict so far. The war for control of Syria's energy resources has not even started, but mutual allegations are already circulating between the parties involved, which accuse each other of cutting power supplies and dealing with the regime.

Exporting crude oil to Europe would encourage ethnic strife, but Syria's rebel-held areas urgently need to produce or import fuel, electricity and gas to meet the basic needs of the population under its control, unless the undesirable option of trading with the regime is brought back to the table. For the time being, the few energy resources available remain prey to looting and black-market dealing.

In Hassakah, the response to the European call for oil trade with the Arab opposition's Syrian National Coalition (SNC) has been largely negative. The PYD doesn't recognize any SNC power over its territories and sees the proposal as an attempt to encourage Arab offensives against Kurdish-held areas. The Free Syrian Army (FSA) compares it to plundering as long as there is no transitional government on the ground.

"We consider the EU offer as if they are spurring Arabs to seize our regions and sell oil through the SNC," Aldar Khalil, a veteran PKK fighter and one of the most influential PYD leaders, told Al-Monitor. "For us, the only body entitled to take decisions on oil trade is the KNC (Kurdish National Council)."

"We're against selling oil before the collapse of the regime or until the formation of a transitional government in Syria," Maj. Muntasir al-Khalid, commander of the FSA Military Council in Hassakah, told Al-Monitor. "For the moment, oil sales would be an organized theft of the wealth of Syria, as the wells are in the hands of different factions."

To add further complications, the al-Qaeda linked Jabhat al-Nusra, believed to be the best organized within the opposition, is not subject to the FSA leadership. Jabhat al-Nusra already controls the Ali Agha well in nearby Rmelan.

The regime is also not likely to accept any initiative in the oil trade. "In order to accept the EU offer, the PYD and the opposition need a no-fly zone, as the regime would shell any oil cargo," predicted an electric engineer in the Oil Ministry's department of Hassakah and Rmelan, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

While the door of foreign exports is temporarily closed, the lack of oil has also affected the production of associated gas and, consequently, electricity. The internal supply routes are hindered by hostilities between Kurdish and Arab factions.

Het begint mij te dagen dat de EU hier wel eens hand en spandiensten aan Turlijke zou kunnen verlenen. Want wie wordt door deze beslissing eigenlijk benadeeld? De Koerden, de PKK die momenteel inderdaad 60% van die vrije olievelden "beheert".

Dat is een juiste inschatting, AQ zal ook gebruikt worden tegen de Koerden.

As the civil war continues to ravage Syria, another civil war looms over its neighbouring country Iraq. Instead of looking towards the heavens and questioning fate, one need only look into the oil fields of Iraq to see the reason behind the impending civil war. After the fall of the Saddam regime in 2003, the Kurds have been gearing towards achieving independence from Baghdad and already run a semi-autonomous region through the Kurdistan Regional Government. This region has its own ministries and a parliament with its capital city being Erbil (also called Hewler in Kurdish language). Oil is one the reasons that keeps the Kurds at loggerheads with Baghdad. This time the situation has reached a point where a war between the two sides might be declared on the very slightest provocation. The provocation, it appears, is the planned excursion of Exxon Mobil and other oil companies into the Kurdish region to drill for oil. The Iraqi government has said that if Exxon or any such company comes to the disputed Kurd territories, then they “will face the Iraqi army”. On November 20, 2012, the Iraqi government dispatched thousands of troops and reinforcements to the front lines of the disputed Kurd territory, when a shootout between Iraqi and the Kurd Peshmarga forces, over an unpaid gasoline bill, took place in the town of Tuz Khurmatu. Relations have been extremely strained and unstable since then. Ever since Saddam’s fall, the Kurdistan government has been maneuvering to distance itself from the main Iraqi government and projects itself as a safe a haven for the world oil companies, and all the signs show that the western oil companies are taking the bait. With the declining security situation in Iraq, car bomb explosions, sectarian strife and the fact that the Syrian civil war might soon spill into Iraq, it only appears logical for the western companies like Exxon, Chevron, Mobil and even some Turkey and UAE based companies to come into the Kurd region for oil exploration."

If al Qaeda actually establishes itself in Syria, then Iraq would face a security crisis that would be reminiscent of the Bush era occupation, with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), suicide attacks and car bombings becoming a daily feature.

All this would ultimately affect the oil supply from Iraq, and so, world oil prices. The western and Middle Eastern oil companies are very interested in the Kurd oil fields, and Iraq is wary of this because it would mean loss of precious oil revenue in the future and increased security concerns.

That is why Iraq does not want the Kurds achieving autonomy over the oil fields in their areas. The Syrian civil war has given new impetus to terror activities in the Middle East and it appears that the effect will be felt outside the region, too.

European countries are unwittingly :lol: funding the ISIS terror campaign by buying oil from Islamic State controlled oil fields, claims a top EU official. The European Ambassador to Iraq has chastised Iran, Kurdistan and Turkey for allowing themselves to be used to facilitate the export of oil produced by the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Syria and Iraq, which nets them over $3 million a day in revenue.

Jana Hybášková, the former Czech Member of European Parliament and now ambassador to the war-torn country was addressing the committee on foreign affairs when she criticised European nations of inadvertently aiding ISIS.

On the uncoordinated patchwork efforts to aid anti-ISIS fighters in the country so far, she said: "the EU countries that provided arms to the Peshmerga forces to support their fight against the Islamic State did not coordinate amongst each other… there are no guarantees until now to confirm or deny that the Islamic State or Kurdish terrorist organisations have not seized those weapons".

Turkish news agency Anadolu also reported her words on the oil trade that brings millions of dollars a year to ISIS, by criticising Iran, Kurdistan and Turkey for being routes out of Iraq for Europe-bound oil tankers going by road. Other members of the committee, clearly concerned by her accusations pressed her for more details and which nations in Europe were engaging in the trade, but she would give no more detail.

Laying the blame solely at the door of nations outside of the EU, Hybášková demanded the Union "exert pressure on Iran, Kurdistan and Turkey in order to stop this trade". This is not the first time Turkey has been accused to turning a blind eye to the political situation in Iraq for financial gain.
