22 oktober 2012 - Reports say anti-government speeches as well as sniper shootings in Lebanon have instigated the recent wave of violence in the country, leading it towards a civil war.

<sub>The reports add the inciting remarks, delivered during the funeral ceremony for assassinated Lebanese security chief Wissam al-Hassan, have even gone as far as calling on people to storm the office of Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

Following the speeches, clashes broke out on Sunday when security forces prevented a crowd from gaining entry to the premier’s office.

In addition, sporadic gunfire targeted Shia residential areas in the capital Beirut for the first time late on Sunday.

Sniper shooting has also been reported against vehicles, pedestrians and even Lebanese army patrols in several Sunni communities including Tariq Jdeide.

Reports also say some elements of the opposition March 14 Movement are trying to sow discord among the country’s political players and create havoc after the assassination of al-Hassan.</sub>

Ruzie over Hezbollah posters blijkbaar...

A gunbattle erupted between Hizbullah supporters and Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir in the Taamir Ain al-Hilweh neighborhood over posters promoting the party, killing three people and injuring seven others.

On Friday, Asir gave an ultimatum to Hizbullah supporters in the city to take down all posters promoting the party. But they “rejected” prompting the Salafist cleric and his supporters to head to the Taamir neighborhood and rip down a poster of Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
