Ja, dat had ik ook . Het is wel geweten dat Hadrianus een voorliefde had voor het mannelijke geslacht (vooral dan de Griekse jongen Antinous). De Romeinen echter maakten daar wel niet echt een spel over.

Ik zou me meer zorgen maken over Vitellius die ook bij u hoog scoort. Uit de wikipediapagina:

Despite his short reign he made two important contributions to Roman government which outlasted him. Tacitus describes them both in his Histories:

* Vitellus ended the practice of Centurions selling furloughs and exemptions of duty to their men, a change Tacitus describes as being adopted by 'all good emperors'.
* He also expanded the offices of the Imperial Administration beyond the imperial pool of Freedmen allowing those of the Equites to take up positions in the Imperial Civil service.

Vitellius also banned astrologers from Rome and Italy from 1 October, 69. Doet me eraan denken dat ik zeker Suetonius moet lezen wanneer ik klaar ben met Livius. Dat kan niet anders dan de moeite zijn.

Ik heb het boek hier liggen. De Vitae Caesari (over het leven van de keizers). Van Caesar tot Dominitianus. Zeer leerrrijk en interessant boek. Een aanrader, inderdaad!
